To evict the mud-magnet cat

Of course IAMU, because we all adore the stupid moggy. But he is an utter mud-magnet, seemingly liking to swim around in puddles and get as filthy as possible, many many times a day, before coming shooting through his catflap, covering every surface (including us) in muddy paw prints.

We've put one of those dirt-grabber style doormats by his flap, but it seems to make little difference. Is there a different type of rug/ mat that will work better? It is driving me to distraction (and I'm really not houseproud)

Sorry - that should say IABU!

I feel your pain - I have 3 dogs that just love walking through the squidgy wet muddy puddles on their then running through the kitchen onto the sofa. My house always looks unloved this time of year 😆🐾

Well, DC got accidently locked in all of yesterday (she has a dawn-dusk curfew after bringing home 6 mice one evening), and made her feelings very clear by gatecrashing DHs online meeting and walking over the keyboard.
So, you could risk internal damage and not let the mud magnet out when it's wet?

CatOnTheChair · 01/02/2023 14:09

Yeah, i mean dusk- dawn curfew..... she's locked in overnight.......

Kpo58 · 01/02/2023 14:11

It took me a while to realise that it wasn't your children bringing in the mice! 😅

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 01/02/2023 14:12

I used to have a cat that would purposefully go out and roll in a muddy puddle, then come in yelling to be towel dried. He'd then go out and do it again.

I fantasised about building a sort of car wash tunnel with towel rollers on the inside of the cat flap.

Without a pic op I don't even believe you have a dcat..

I'm glad it wasn't just me Grin

Hah! My reprobate is a total towel-dodger. He prefers to clean his filthy paws by jumping on my lap. Ideally when I’ve just put a clean pair of jeans on.

He would go nuts if he was kept inside. He’s bonkers enough as it is!

Here he is, being all oblivious to the chaos he creates.
