Weekly food bill

I am a household of one and earn an average wage, with bills mortgage etc I have very little at the end of the month and am wondering if I am spending excessively on food. Before anyone asks, I have no idea what I spend a week on food as I tend to pick up a few things here and there.
I work a job where +40 hrs is the norm, as are erratic hours so I have no desire to spend hours cooking (20-30 min max). Consequently I am quite happy to spend a little extra and get the sort of ready meals that go in the oven or are prepared cuts of meat.
With that in mind how much should I be budgeting for food a week? Is £45 excessive?

We spend about £150 to 200 a week for four so yours sounds about right to me. Yours is probably more expensive as I think being single does mean more expenditure. Try using a slow cooker and cook things for the freezer if you want to save money ( don’t know if you do!)

We are a household of 2 and spend about 45 quid. We have heaps of leftovers that do for lunches and freezer food. I imagine you could do the same, but ready meals are quite expensive. If you are prepared to cook a meal from scratch, use a slow cooker etc then you could probably eat very comfortably off 35-40 quid.

2 adults and a young toddler. Spend over £100 a week easy
