To get a duvet holder-oner

Rainallnight · 31/01/2023 19:58

DS is driving me to distraction waking up
in the night - I think he’s cold.

I’d like to get some clips or something to hold his duvet on.

DP thinks I have a slight addiction to gadgets to solve any problem in life. There may be some truth in that! 😂

Has anyone got these? Do they work? Should I just tuck everything in a bit better???

It’s made a big difference to me going to a king size duvet, or even get your own double!

ODFOx · 31/01/2023 20:01

In Scandinavia people have their own duvet for sleeping even though they share a bed. So you could each have your own duvet rather than a gadget?

Or pyjamas and socks?

Please someone come and tell us what to do, I’m thinking of putting Velcro or press studs on my daughter’s duvet cover and sheets but it would be a pain! I’ve seen something in the past but it was a zip on thing and you had to buy the whole set. Grobag made them I think!

stbrandonsboat · 31/01/2023 20:01

Me and dh have our own duvets and blankets.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 31/01/2023 20:02

What about a weighted blanket?

RedVanYellowVan · 31/01/2023 20:02

If they are the sort which go under the mattress, yes they do work, but I never stopped worrying about the possibility of a child somehow getting tangled up in them.

Proper sheets and blankets are the answer.

Pretty sure it’s the OP’s son that is waking not her and her husband with the problem…child kicking covers off then getting cold….and coming in with them if he’s like my daughter!

Oh yes! Oops…

redblonde · 31/01/2023 20:04

When my daughter was younger she had a similar problem. I used those clips you can get to attach children's gloves to coat sleeves (essentially a strap a few inches long with a clip on each end) Worked a treat!

Thatiswild · 31/01/2023 20:04

Ooh @redblonde good idea!

Rainallnight · 31/01/2023 20:04

Yes definitely DS and not DP. 😀. DS is 4.

Just get a few bulldog clips, clamp the side of the duvet to the side of the under sheet and see if it makes any difference. Or ask he’ll use a sleeping bag for a bit to see if that help. Merino underlayers work wonders for me as pjs!!

FlounderingFruitcake · 31/01/2023 20:06

That sounds really dangerous if you’re talking about a toddler. How are they supposed to throw it off if they overheat or worse, get stuck under it. Can’t you do warmer PJs and/or turn the heating up? Also, is it possible you’re clutching at straws re the night wakes?

WhiteFire · 31/01/2023 20:10

This is what we have on my bed, this is what it is called on eBay. I can't link as my phone defaults to the app.

"Cosy Grips Single Duvet Bed Clips Grippers Comforter Grips Holders Fasteners"

I can still turn it over if I get hot but it stops it going anywhere.

MoiraDavidson · 31/01/2023 20:10

I turn a single duvet sideways and tuck the edges under the mattress.
