To think there must be things we can do to stop youngsters carrying knives? But what?

aibu or is there something which can be done? Is anything being
done? I just seem to hear increasing amounts of stories about young people being stabbed.

Stop adults grooming children to do their drug running.

A lot of knife crime is to do with drug dealing

I expect they have something to do with it. Quite a lot, probably

100%, always some that will never take responsibility for their children though

Life sentences and stop and search no matter what colour you are for a start

There's already life sentences for some knife crimes

Legalising drugs and regulating the trade would go a long way.

So people off their heads walking the streets? Still with knives though

Some great ideas on here. I would add Public information films aimed at young people, probably younger than you’d expect too - year 6 onwards. Details of just how little it takes to kill someone, how their lives will be after, the grief of both sets of families - those of perpetrator and victim, no punches pulled.

Ah yes let increase stop and search as long as it doesn't affect white young boys! Great solution to the problem!

Or mumsnetters.....the frenzy some threads get into when a mumsnetters has been asked to show a receipt in a shop or have a bag checked!! Can imagine the fury

Stop using drugs. It's often controversial on MN but if you use illegal drugs of any kind, you're creating the market that causes this.

My 15 year old attends mainstream school, she had a lady visit who's son had been stabbed to death, she said some of her friends were in tears, they were all given bleed kits after, my 11 year old at the same school has been threatened with a knife.. my 13 year old is in an alternative provision and a lot of the kids he's with are likely vulnerable to getting caught up in knife crime, on his way into school he passes a metal detector, has his pockets and shoes searched and is patted down, he has to lock away his phone and bag, , after school the staff stand outside and around for a good distance , I actually feel he's safer than my kids at mainstream, I think some of their rules could be incorporated into schools , we are in Hackney I'm genuinely scared for my son in particular as he gets older...
