To expect a refund?

I bought this jumper on Saturday from a well known high street retailer.
It was £30
Today I wore it for the first time and after 2 hours it looked like this.(this hasn't been washed or anything yet )
So I took it back into store and they refused a refund.
Now I've just looked at reviews and nearly all are saying "bobbled after 1 wear"
"Looks like I've had it years"
Would you expect a refund?

YANBU, is it from M&S? Bought DH a jumper there for Christmas, looks awful already.

I got one from M&S that's bobbled terribly

Really surprised

I agree, Zara are awful for refunds.

Did you say to her “well yes, that’s why I want to return it”? I mean surely she could see the date on the receipt?

goinggoinggonee · 30/01/2023 21:04

Wow. I'd tweet them with a pic and say you've been refused. They'll listen!

curlymom · 30/01/2023 21:09

I would call their customer service explain what happened and ask for them to refund you. You will hopefully be asked to return to the store with approval to refund.

My DH bought an expensive jumper from house of Fraser. It went fluffy after one wear. They gave him his money back.
They're notoriously awkward re returns since Mike Ashley took over so I was pleasantly surprised

NEmama · 30/01/2023 21:13

Oh and yanbu they should refund you

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee no she didn't buy it. The fitting rooms are at the back of the shop and the tills are near the door, she walked with them as they were trying to force her to the tills and as soon as she got close enough her and her friend ran out the door (terrified that security were going ti chase her but the didn't)

She's 15 and she was affronted at the attention they were drawing to her.

She is such a tomboy. She rarely wears make up and the only time she has ever worn fake tan was when she had a spray tan last year when she was a bridesmaid at my sisters wedding!

I second that Zara are awful. A long time ago and pre social media, I bought a t-shirt I was already a bit 'meh' about. When I got home it went straight in the wardrobe.

A couple of weeks or so later when I went to wear it, it had a security tag on it! I didn't have my receipt anymore but I'd bought it using my credit card so I printed off my credit card statement which showed a Zara transaction and took that with me to the shop.

I didn't set off any alarms then, nor when I'd bought it. I explained the situation. Several staff took my credit card statement away to scrutinise (which tbh I found uncomfortable). They huddled together talking it over before one of them came back and told me they didn't believe me and no, they wouldn't be taking the tag off!

I refuse to set foot in Zara now.

That's awful.

I bought ds a superdry hoody for Christmas. After two washes the eyelet came off, it went bally and the colour faded.

I had bought it in a city about 40 miles away and tried to return it to a town about 5 miles away and they wouldn't take it as superdry are franchised.

But the one in the city did exchange it for another when I took it back at the weekend.

I can't understand why Zara said no, unless they thought it was an old jumper and you were pulling a fast one with a new receipt?
