That review’s great, @SarahAndQuack. Sums up how I feel about several classics of children’s literature…

I also think things about stuff.

🤣 Wins the internet today!

Fancylike · 29/01/2023 06:51

Can someone explain or share a link? At work so a bit worried to search if it’s rude…

Mylaferret · 29/01/2023 06:55

I like it. It's been a great comfort to me during spells of suicideal ideation and very deep depression. For someone who struggles to be nice to myself, it's helpful to be able to pick up the book and read positive words in small chunks with nice pictures and feel a bit less alone. It's accessible for me in a way that wordy self help books are not.

But hey, each to their own. Might sound like bad greetings cards but the book helped me immensely at a time i felt very very alone.

Hey mylaferret
It's good to hear that it has been genuinely useful.

I think a big problem with the book and film is that they ended up being promoted as being for children. The book is really an art book, I literally have it as a coffee table book. The film follows the style of the book.

I find the whole thing vomit inducing to be honest

MeinKraft · 29/01/2023 09:02

Someone bought my son the book and I haven't read it to him. I wouldn't know where to start. I think it was a nice thing during the pandemic when everyone was struggling but it was a moment in time.

Isn't it just?! Grin

Is that the animated programme that was on Xmas day?

If so, I agree. I read the comments on here after as I knew they would be golden. So many people 'sobbing uncontrollably' and saying what an inspired story it was.

Personally I found it rather dull. I much prefer the snowman and snow dog

Mybumlooksbig · 29/01/2023 10:05

I agree, the Christmas programme was vomit inducing naffness

I would recommend this alternative. The panda, the cat and the dreadful teddy 🤣

The teddy may be dreadful but I'm betting money on the cat being unreasonable ..... Grin

Cats are always unreasonable. It’s just how they are.

Agree. Cats are so fucking unreasonable.

YNBU I can’t understand the appeal of if at all. My poor DD got given it by 2 different people at Christmas and we already have a copy at home which the kids lost interest in after we read the the first page. I was very proud of trying her best to look pleased and say thank you both times though!

I guess there are kids out there that enjoy that kind of thing but my kids are not them. They prefer an obvious storyline and colourful pictures, like Julia Donaldson etc.
