Has anyone developed migraines later in life?

I’ve had headaches before where I’ve needed to just have a sleep and felt a bit crap but last Monday I had the most horrific headache. Could actually see wee guys inside my house with hammers and felt like my head was actually pulsating. I was sick 4 times. Tuesday I felt like I was hungover. The rest of the week I’ve had continual headaches. Not like Monday but not going away completely.

i don’t want to waste the doctors time but I also don’t think this can be normal?

any migraine experiences in latwr life?

Yes it is often hormonal. Sumatriptan and cyclazine work wonders if you take them as soon as an attack starts.

I would go to the doctor.

I get migraines. If you let it progress to full migraine stage you can be extremely ill. The trick is to nip it in the bud. When you feel the headache coming on immediately take paracetamol and lie down in a quiet dark room for a couple of hours. You will feel delicate afterwards and probably need to rest, but won’t progress to full migraine. If the problem continues long term it can sometimes help to eliminate bright light by wearing tinted glasses. Figure out what your triggers are - mine are hot baths and being too hot in general, high air pressure and too much caffeine. Menopausal hormone changes can also trigger headaches.

my migraine would be absolutely the same as yours if I didn’t take migraine tablets as soon as I feel it coming on. As a PP said, sumatriptan works great. The Migraine is usually gone within the hour or taking sumatriptan.

You can develop migraines at any time in your life. Please don’t feel like you’re wasting your doctor’s time by going to see them.

I'd recommend to go to your dr. Most people with migraines I've heard of get them from childhood, it's rare to get them later in life. It could be something else like blood pressure high or others...

Anyway, if it is migraine there are very good medicines to prevent and abort them but you need a GP prescription to get them.

Sumatriptan is what you need. And please don't think you are wasting your doctor 's time. See him and get a prescription.
