Period pants

I don't know if this has been already said but I went shopping yesterday and noticed in quite a few high street chemists and my local chemists there are virtually no sanitary pads and very little choice of tampons. Instead there seems to be mainly period pants on sale. AIBU to think that women's choice of period products are slowly being eroded away? Even my husband noticed and that's saying something.

I want to know the answer to this too.
I bleed heavily and don't fancy having to take off my shoes, trousers and period pants every time I need to change.
Much easier for me to use a pad.
I mainly use washable, but sometimes disposable if I'm going to be out all day on a heavy day.

I have very heavy periods.

The brand I use have 24hr pants. Now of course I would NEVER wear them for 24 hours, but I can easily go a full day wearing them.

I recently went on a mountain day and I was super worried because I was on my period. I simply wore two pairs of period pants. At the end of the day I was fine and would have been totally ok with 1 pair.

Oh, that's really interesting
What brand are they if you don't mind me asking?

I really didn’t like period pants. I found them sweaty and horrible to wear and by the end of the day I could smell them, but I did only buy primark ones.

But a decent brand. Seriously. They are absolutely amazing.

They are called 'Flowettes' and they have all kids of styles.

I personally love the full 24hr pants because I will always go for comfort 😂

They do a full brief too! I love a full brief, I never wear small pants 🤣
Really reasonable prices too. Thank you

@Jifmicroliquid I bought DD some Primark ones a whilk,, been washed lots so relegated to normal pants now but they sort of crinkle so I wonder if there is a plastic layer in them. My Cheeky Wipes ones aren't like that at all and have full coverage from back waistband to front waistband which the Primark ones didn't.

In terms of changing throughout the day, you pick the absorbancy that you need and then one pair in the morning, one pair when you get home and another before bed.

Really good price, really comfy and they work.

They say not to tumble dry but I always do and they have been fine.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 28/01/2023 19:44

Yeah the Primark ones were useless, probably ok for very light days. The Modibodi ones are very good, as are the Cheekypants ones.

Same 🤦‍♀️

Mooshamoo · 28/01/2023 19:57

I really didn't like period pants. They became really heavy from my flow and it really felt like I was sitting in my blood all day.

I had a real feeling like I was sitting in a wet heavy nappy. I've never felt that before with pads. Pads felt more absorbent to me

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 19:58

I’ve noticed the lack of sanitary products available. I have to find unscented sanitary towels (why TAF would you want perfume rubbing against your vulva?!) and stick up because they’re so rare

Purplebiscuitwithsprinkles · 29/01/2023 01:39

@TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl It's become impossible to find unscented I'm not a fan of Kotex, I loved the bodyform maxi night time pads as they are unscented but they have stopped making them it seems as I can't find them anywhere.

I hate when people ask AIBU? Then disable the vote! YABU and talking absolute rubbish.

Always in a pink packet are the best, but they are small so I have to wear 2 pads at once!

I refuse to get a moon cup.

Purplebiscuitwithsprinkles · 29/01/2023 02:24

@Kidsx6 Why so aggressive? I haven't disabled anything? I just posted...no idea how to do the vote thing.

I'm In Australia and always surprised when I see it mentioned that pads in the uk are scented. Try getting some Libra pads on Amazon.

Purplebiscuitwithsprinkles · 29/01/2023 09:08

@bbqchickenandsalad @TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl Thanks both will try these recommendations.

BeardieWeirdie · 29/01/2023 09:21

I’m super heavy and need to change my mooncup with every wee for the first two days and still leak so use a cup and pants combination for the day and change my pants going to bed.
Another option for those wondering about changing during the day in work/public toilets is to wear period pants with a cloth pad in the morning, and remove the pad at lunch time.

I use ones from wuka.

Easily last 12 hours even when my flow is extremely heavy.

Have never had to strip or change during the day.

Put a pair on in morn and they last me till I'm home from work, another pair then do me till the morning
