Tonight is….

PATE NIGHT….!

Pate night thread

I had pate for breakfast…!

OP posts:
ApolloandDaphne · 28/01/2023 18:02

I'm having pate tonight. Can't wait.

MalteserGeezee · 28/01/2023 18:05

The OG pate thread is surely a contender for Mumsnet Classics?!

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 28/01/2023 18:05

Mushroom paté - yum yum! I bought some from Tesco for Christmas Day starter, and it just did 2 people with a slice of wholemeal toast each.

SiobhanSharpe · 28/01/2023 18:06

Freetodowhatiwant · 28/01/2023 17:48

All this pate talk is difficult for those of us that gave up meat. Any recommendations for a decent veggie pate that tastes just like chicken liver pâté gratefully received. I also reckon I could easily get through a whole pack myself in one sitting.

This brings to mind the 'Friends' episode where Monica is pissed off enough at Phoebe to reveal that the 'vegetarian pâté' Phoebe liked so much was not quite the ticket... "Well, if goose is a vegetable... "
So sorry, Freetodowhatiwant I feel your pain but I don't think such a pâté exists. (Mushroom just won't cut it.)

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 28/01/2023 18:06

Wish I’d bought some today……..☹️

Georgyporky · 28/01/2023 18:10

Paté is deffo for brekkie - supermarket slab will only do 2-3 slices of toast.

Perhaps "pate" is different to "paté" ?

Rogue1001MNer · 28/01/2023 18:10

Sometimes MN is hilarious

Great thread @BathshebaKnickerStickers

WalterWitty · 28/01/2023 18:12

🕰 6:08 aaannnnddd it’s in the bin 3/4 full.

We all laugh but I think we’re all a bit jealous we don’t have a paturday. There’s nowt in my life I look forward to like that fam await a Paturday.

Oh wait, I forgot about wine.

BoxOfCats · 28/01/2023 18:15

Paturday is definitely becoming a thing in my life from now on, thanks to this thread.
Unfortunately I'm in another time zone where it is already Sunday, so I have 6 whole days to wait until Paturday :(

WalterWitty · 28/01/2023 18:15

One day one of their kids is gonna ‘come out’ and admit they don’t actually like it 😅

Georgyporky · 28/01/2023 18:16

Whoops, different as well to "pâté"

Pssspsss · 28/01/2023 18:17

Anyone else find it weird they can quite easily scran down a tub of smooth Brussels pate, but faced with a plate of liver and onions would puke their insides up all over it? Or is that just me?

(coarse pate too would go nowhere near my lips 🤢)

Isseywith3witchycats · 28/01/2023 18:19

Quite enjoyed my pate on a buttered brioche for my lunch today

ZeroFuchsGiven · 28/01/2023 18:24

I was in an actual grump till I read this

The centrepiece!

The family hopped from their beds joyous in the knowledge it was Saturday.

They were so thankful they had all survived another week on basic rations. Wednesday had been tough as they were forced to throw last weeks half pack away for it had succumbed to ‘the grey’.

Now just to sit in front of the clock in their finery and count down to 6pm, children shaking with excitement, parents sharing their first smiles all week.

In less than 2 hours the ceremonial baguette slicing will take place.

Aaahhh Paturday.

Post of the year so far 😂

Hollyhocksauce · 28/01/2023 18:29

Starting to wonder if the OP sits on the pate marketing board. I saw some pate this afternoon and I almost bought it because of that thread, despite never having had an interest in pate before!

DonatellaBella · 28/01/2023 18:38

Seagully7 · 28/01/2023 17:49

After that thread, I went out today JUST to buy pâté and a French stick. Had it for lunch. And will be polishing off what’s left, later

Me too! 😄 Haven't bought pate for years but got some yesterday to have this morning on toast. Perhaps the original poster works for a pate manufacturer!

TheHauntedPencilCase · 28/01/2023 18:51

YES PATEDAY 😆😆😆

You’re onto something here 🧐 I tend to only have pate around Christmas…and I’m craving it like a mother fucker

I'm the same. I hate liver and bacon but love pate. That said, Waitrose smooth Brussels is too liver tasting for me. I don't mind the coarser pate's either, but do prefer smooth or farmhouse with mushrooms.

@Freetodowhatiwant I would just get a pot of mushroom pate. Food of the gods!

longtompot · 28/01/2023 19:53

Did anyone see the update from the op on the other thread?

pyracantha · Today 18:34
I’ve read the thread. Thank you. Everyone seems to be fine giving their kids tandsmør, but if thats really how it’s supposed to be it’s taken the previous joy out of it for me somewhat.
I’m ok with being wrong but I genuinely don’t want to be right on this occasion . It also says it’s not suitable for freezing on the packet. It’s lightly cooked chicken liver. If you’ve ever had Noro virus or psittacosis you’d not mess around with lightly cooked poultry. (Ardennes was always too bumpy)
Anyway, thank you for all your help.
I know people asked for pictures but we’ve done the complete 180 and gone for scampi with chips and peas instead, so without oval plates I can’t.

Ah so now she’s teamed up with Whitby Seafoods. God this woman is good!

Anyone else up for Scampi on an oval plate? Circles are so 2022…
