AIBU to get cheaper braces

I've been looking into adult braces. Got two quotes from orthodontists £3,500. The work is fairly minimal, they estimated around 8 months to complete. I've had x rays so know my roots etc are all healthy and good for orthodontic work, and both dentists have said my oral health is good.
Diamond whites aligners are less than £2,000 which is a huge saving - plus whatever I spend my husband will want for spending too so I wouldn't be saving £1,500 I'd be saving £3,000.
Are online based aligners really that bad? Especially if I've had all the pre-check stuff to show I can get braces safely?

I would never take a risk like that with something so fundamental as my dental health. Have it done properly under professional care.

There was a recent BBC article about this which talks about some of the risks; if you're sure that none of the risks they mention apply to you, then I can see why it would be an attractive prospect, but personally I'd try and save up a bit longer because I'm anxious about my teeth and causing permanent issues. www.bbc.com/news/uk-58038752

There's been quite a few articles recently saying that it's a bad idea. You could end up with a load more problems. I just wouldn't risk it

@HappyKoala56 did you decide to go with DW aligners? I am looking into it and looking to see if anyone had a good or bad experience with them x

I'm doing invisalign at the moment with a proper orthodontist. I get checked in person at least every 8 weeks, and I'm currently having another round of aligners to make some (non-cosmetic) changes to my bite at the back - these were all included in my package, and I can keep going for as long as I need to, there's no set end date. Now I'm in this process there's no way I'd do this remotely, even though it's all been relatively smooth sailing. The reassurance I have from my dentist with regards to checking my gum health etc is really important - erosion can happen really quickly.

@HelloSunshine11 thank you that's really helpful and a good point about wanted to have someone you can see and talk to in person
