US COVID RESTRICTIONS

Hi All,
My daughter has been suffering from depression for some years and the pandemic has meant that we've not been abroad for a number of years. She absolutely hates her birthday so we thought it would be a great idea to take her away for her 18th which is on the 7th February. Unfortunately it seems we may have done insufficient research regarding covid requirements - can anyone help please. She had the first dose about 18 months ago but didn't like it and hasn't had a second one up until today. We are booked to travel on the 5th which is 11 days away - looking at the US website it suggests that we have to wait 14 days before the second one counts - is just the first jab sufficient does anyone know? It also seems to suggest that children under 18 are not required to be fully vaccinated so she will still be 17 when we're due to step on the plane although she will turn 18 on day 13 (any advice gratefully received - she's so excited about the holiday - she'll be devastated if we can't go).
Many Thanks

Did you expect there to be no consequences to being an anti-vaxxer?

Maybe some countries don't want anti-vaxxers flying in. Just maybe.

I don't know whether I've misunderstood something here but none of us are anti-vaxxers - three of us are fully vaccinated and my 17-year-old daughter, who suffers from depression, is part vaccinated.

Can we ever just have a thread without somebody turning up drunk?

Children 17 and under are exempt from the vaccination requirements, she should be fine (quoted from .gov website).

Thanks so much to everyone who's replied - we feel a bit reassured - we're flying with BA so I would imagine they'll check - hopefully they'll send through some forms quite shortly. We are due to fly on to San Francisco on the 9th by which time she'll be 18 but her second vaccine should count by then (fingers crossed).

BAwill ask before you can online check in. Upload pdf and they verify it. Children under 18 you say no and then say they are under 18 so exempt. They will then send an email which you have to go in and confirm and then they verify. I nearly missed this step

it is the airline that has to check once you are on the plane it is never mentioned. It all happens this side. And has since the beginning (travelled Dec 2021/Feb 2022 and Dec 2022). Immigration don’t ask

Hi There,
Thanks to everyone for all their help with this one - we did manage to travel and had a great time. Just a few notes which might help other people in the same boat. We couldn't sort out my daughter's application online so we were going to fill out an attestation form - however when we got to the airport it was pretty obvious the lady at check in didn't know exactly what she was looking for and just accepted my daughters NHS Q code (even though it was less than the requited 14 days) - after that it was all plain sailing (or flying) - having said that covid is clearly an issue so I'll make sure we do better research earlier ahead of any future trips.
Regards
NTM
