Mil and boundaries

I'm not a mil hater but fuck me she's pissing me off. I'm back in the office three days a week, she's in our house twice a week to let y7 Dts in.

Saw her on Ring today, she arrived at my house at 0915, left for pick up at 1445. WTAF is she doing in my house for that long?! It's MY house, not hers, do t want her in it. I'm not articulating myself herby well but I'm just pissed off.

Why don’t you just ask her? I couldn’t let that go.

ZekeZeke · 24/01/2023 20:18

Why does she need to be there to let your DC in?
Give the DC a key?

Surfsenior · 24/01/2023 20:19

Maybe she’s running a secret OnlyFans business from your bedroom…🤣

Justmuddlingalong · 24/01/2023 20:20

She's obviously putting your heating on full bung and reveling in the warmth without the worry of paying for it.

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 24/01/2023 20:21

Lol. I'd say watching TV, avoiding heating bills at home, having a change of scenery, having a break from retired husband who's a bit of a dick. Well that's why mine doesn't have a key!

She ll be mortified if you bring it up, but it's cheeky. I'd monitor it closely, then make up something about being allowed to nip home sometimes.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 24/01/2023 20:23

Why can’t the let themselves in? Problem solved

meetmeatmidnights · 24/01/2023 20:24

Start saying hello loudly over the ring camera as she walks up! She'll know she's been spotted then.

I know she's doing you a favour, but that's taking the mick totally! I'd hate anyone wandering round in my house for that long alone.

ChatTilMidnight · 24/01/2023 20:25

Your children can let themselves into their own house. If you are worried they will lose the key attach it to one of those retractable key fobs or a long piece of elastic and either safety pin that into their bag, sew it in or attach it to a loop that are sometimes found in bags.

They get in, lock the front door and then turn the alarm off. Thousands of children do this every day from year 7 onwards. There is no need for your MIL to be in your house for that length of time and I would be telling her she is not to do it.

Wibbly1008 · 24/01/2023 20:25

Knock this on the head right now. She could be snooping through your drawers ?! Tell her you have seen her arrive early on the ring door bell, and it’s not necessary for her to be there so early. Be honest and straight talking.

Hankunamatata · 24/01/2023 20:26

Do u have sky or virgin TV and she doesn't?
Is she cleaning?

Hankunamatata · 24/01/2023 20:29

Is she saving on heating her house?

MermaidEyes · 24/01/2023 20:30

Next time she's round leave her a note with a list of jobs to do and say 'I noticed last time you were here you stayed all day so I thought you might as well make yourself useful'.
Seriously though, call her out on it. Or give your kids a key.

BevMarsh · 24/01/2023 20:32

First thought was that she's struggling paying her heating bills.

dogdaydown · 24/01/2023 20:34

You could..... ask here?

This is why my y7 DC has a key. She does refuse to put it on a keyring and hasn't lost it yet (by some act of God). She's lost her bank card, student card, numerous times but not the very expensive to cut key yet. @BevMarsh yes I wondered the same.

Cellotapedispenser · 24/01/2023 20:42

We got our y7 a key safe with a code. Works well. Bet she's rifling through your knicker drawer commenting on the state of your bloomers.

Joking aside, it's very odd she is in your house all day. I'd do what pp said and shout 'hello, is everything okay? when she appears on camera.

Only 11, don't trust them not to let the dog out / not shut the front door / burn the house down with a tik tok hack..

So is the dog there alone all day if she isn’t? Maybe she feels bad for it…

alternatively you either pay for after school care? It’ll be short lived, surely they’ll be ok to be left soon

Liorae · 24/01/2023 21:58

Ask her son to ask her what she was doing in the house all day. Did you discuss it with him?

ZippingZebra · 14/02/2023 18:45

If she does it again and isnt technology savvy I'd text and say I don't suppose you're round at my house? I'm sure you wouldn't be at this time but my app told me someone is home and before I explode at my kids for playing hooky I just wanted to check if it was you as you're the only other person to have a key..

So she isn’t just letting your daughter in, she is baby sitting.
