Stomach bug... does it ever NOT spread through the whole family?

DD1 just gone down with it tonight - I'm up with her now and probably will be most of the night. She's T1 diabetic and this is the first proper vomiting type bug she's had since she was diagnosed so it's quite worrying.

DD (10) has two younger siblings and I have nightmare visions of a house full of puking kids by the morning. And then me! It's so long since we had one of these in the house that I'm honestly feeling quite stressed about it. Does it ever not spread through the whole household? Please - give me some hope!! 🙏

We had one in the house recently, it came from DC2. DH got it next, then as he started to feel better I got it. Despite being around us the whole time DC1 never caught it! It’s really unusual for me to get a stomach bug but DH gets everything going. DC1 has only ever had one their entire life so far so seems to be almost immune to them! Hope your DD is alright.

We've had two in the house since DD started nursery. First one everyone got except me. Second one everyone got except DH. Do excellent hand hygiene and hope for the best. Hope DD is better soon x

Trying to wipe everything down as needed, but there's a limit to how much you can do! She hasn't actually been sick on me or on anything else (it's definitely easier at this age when they can generally manage to get the bathroom) but she has also got terrible diarrhoea which has come on more this morning, and she's reluctant to even leave the bathroom. She won't eat anything and I'm not trying to get her to, but trying to keep up fluids since she is losing so much...

I'm not emetophobic but it is definitely not my favourite thing to deal with!!

When the bug arrived - we’ve not had it very often (every few years) - but every time all of us. Not all at once but usually within 3 days - we have separate toilets & wipe everything down.

I never get them! I have 3 DC and it does through them, their dad also gets it if he’s got them when they’re ill. I’ve been vomited on by my 3 year old a few times and never been sick. Colds however are another story, a mild cold to them has me knocked out for a few days.

Everyone else is okay so far so I'm crossing my fingers 🤞
