Parking fine over a year later?

I lived on a block of flats in 2021. They brought in parking enforcements on Feb of that year. They hadn't sent me my valid permit by the time the parking attendants started patrolling.

I got a ticket sent through for the 15th. I contacted the lettings agent who got the ticket cancelled.

I moved out in late July 2021 and didn't received any further tickets.

Fast forward to today and I have a CCJ on my credit report for an unpaid ticket dated 16th February 2021 (the day after the last one). Their correspondence on the ticket was going to my old flat address.

My fault as I meant to update my VSC certificate with my new address.

But either way, they shouldn't have issued/should have cancelled tickets when it was confirmed I had a permit?

It's a lot of money to pay and I parked there legally but at the same time if I'd had the right address on the V5C I would have known sooner.

Now I have to pay within 30 days or it goes on my credit report.

you can apply to the court for it to be set aside & heard again, £255 I think or less if you’re on certain benefits. Will be refunded if you win. Which parking company is it?

If it’s non police/council it’s not a fine but a parking charge notice.

Sorry a PCN yes.

It's UK Car Park Management. They won't even speak to me (via their solicitor Gladstones) as too much time has passed!

My worry is that the court route takes over two months and they might not overturn because I'd not kept my address details updated on my V5C (so I would have found out sooner). I'd then still pay the fine and because it's after 30 days it would stay on my credit report for 6 years!

Speak to the court about a set aside first. Don’t bother with the parking company at this point, they won’t care.

Thanks, if I dispute it with the court it takes two months to process. If they go against me it stays on the record for 6 years so it's a risk.
