AIBU to try do something about this?

I have for the past 2 years or so felt worn out, tired, can't concentrate well/ lack motivation, tingly fingers, restless legs and intermitten chest pains. I have also put on, and can't get rid of, approximately a stone of weight. My kids are no longer small and sleep relatively well, I get approx 8 hrs sleep a night, I eat well and I exercise regularly. For context, I am almot 40. I have recently had an iron test which has come back fine, but have asked to speak to the doctor about what happens next, and perhaps a thyroid function test.

AIBU trying to pursue this? Is this just an age thing? Is this just how life is going to be and I need to just live with it? The GP receptionist sounded less than enthusiastic about booking me in, so I can't help having a feeling that I am wasting their time and almost booked the thyroid test privately...

(NC for this btw)

Thyroid investigations sound sensible, and maybe check b12 and vitamin d too while they're at it.

Thyroid and blood glucose are often done together. They are often connected.
Have you tried low carb? No added sugar and minimum carbs, cut out wheat.

i haven't no. Mainly because I am trying to eat in a balanced sensible way, not cutting out food groups altogether or "dieting".

I guess there are things to try, but mainly I was just wondering whether it's pointless/ a waste of resources to try get some answers via my GP.
