Frustrated with the High Cost of Nursing Bras

I am 33 weeks pregnant and just starting to think about getting nursing bras as I plan to breastfeed. I can't help but feel a little frustrated at how expensive they are, especially when breastfeeding is a necessity. I know that everything related to babies comes with a high price tag, but paying £80 for two nursing bras at M&S just seems a bit steep to me. 😠
I needed to vent my frustration somewhere, and I thought this would be the perfect place to do so. If any of you have found a place that sells nursing bras at a more affordable price, please do let me know. I would really appreciate it.

Zalando has a variety of maternity wear in reasonable prices. I love my Cache Coeur nursing bras, they were approximately £30 each but they are built to last and will be used after weaning just as well.
My other go to brand is Medela night/seamless bra off Amazon.
Good luck with your breastfeeding journey!

I got these from Amazon. 3 for £25! I didn't expect anything great but they're actually fab!

I’d recommend a load of the cheap stretchy unstructured ones for the first 6 weeks, can get them in primark, Asda etc. Then once your size has settled and you know you’re going to continue to breastfeed you can spend a bit more on some better ones.
Theres really no point buying them at 33 weeks!

I second this recommendation.

Once feeding is well established, your size will be consistent and much easier to find. Then get measured and look around online. I was a very unusual size (30 back but large cup) which is not available in most high street stores but I managed to find what I needed online.

Do not buy more than one proper bra and one sleep bra before the birth, leaving it as late as possible before your due date to get even them because you can dramatically change size, I wouldn't buy more than 2 before 6 weeks post partum either. They can be bought for around £15

If you want a cheap bra, why are you looking in M&S? Confused

I saw some very comfy nursing bras in Primark this weekend.

generalkape · 23/01/2023 12:14

Just bought 2 for £6 on vinted

Swanna · 23/01/2023 12:14

@flawless29 what size are you OP? I have a couple of Charlotte Royce nursing bras, one unused and the other barely. I'd be happy to post to you.

but paying £80 for two nursing bras at M&S just seems a bit steep to me.

Then don’t spend it? There are nursing bras at the majority of shops at the minute, asos, new look and primark all do cheap and cheerful nursing bras.

There’s no point spending big money on them as they are always chucked in the wash covered in milk multiple times a week and your boobs change sizes so much while BFing.

Frenchcroissant · 23/01/2023 12:22

Every supermarket and high street store do them, I had Asda ones and were cheap and comfy.

ReamsOfCheese · 23/01/2023 12:25

YANBU. I only have 2 nursing bras (watch out "maternity bras" don't always come with openable cups as I discovered after wasting money on two from mothercare a couple of years ago before they went bust) left, I can't afford more so I usually just go commando or wear a bikini top.
Also pisses me off that nowhere actually stocks them in-store to try on, you just have to guess what size your boobs are and hope whatever you order fits you.

Five years ago. Not now.

Got myself measured at M&S, they didn't have my size in store so I ended up looking on eBay and found a 2 pack of brand new M&S in my size for £12 (past season I think, as it wasn't on their website), I was a weird size too. As PPs have said most supermarkets sell them now (albeit look online) as do H&M etc. There are options!

5 years ago but not now??
Just not true, right now Asda and TU have several nursing bras in stock.

LavenderHillMob · 23/01/2023 13:58

As per PP stretchy crop tops are better in the early weeks and a lot more comfortable to sleep in.

I'm convinced nursing bras were designed by people without tits!
