The price of drinks in bars/ pubs

How much are drinks where you live?

I went out on Friday to a pub nearish a city center. A non-alcoholic beer and can of Cola came to £9.50. Alcoholic drinks were a few pound more.

Is this normal now? Seems a bit steep to me!

just been for lunch at a reasonably priced restaurant in the city centre
£5.20 for a pint of Asahi
£5.10 for 175ml house white
£3.50 for a bottle of Peroni
£2.95 for a diet Coke

£11 for a glass of wine Blush

ThreeRingCircus · 22/01/2023 18:43

Shockingly expensive round here but I'm in the South East. Two large glasses of wine last week was £20.

bigbluebus · 22/01/2023 18:48

Just got back from a quick drink at our local hostelry. 2 pints of draft beer and 1/2 pint of cider £9.20

AlwaysLatte · 22/01/2023 18:51

We just had a quick drink at our local village pub. One pint of beer and a bottle of local cider plus a little glass of chilli mixed nuts was £14+

Dartmoorcheffy · 22/01/2023 18:52

In a rural Devon Market town. £3.20 for a pint of lager. £3.50 for a gin and tonic.

Dogsgottabone · 22/01/2023 18:53

We pay about £7 a pint or £8-12 for a glass of wine depending on what you choose.

This is our local, a v quaint gastropub in the very rural South.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 22/01/2023 19:21

I'd find some of these prices for a glass of wine unpalatable and unjustified

pursudebyablackdog · 22/01/2023 19:29

£3.00 for a coke / lemonade
£4.00 for fruit juice
£3.50 for a hot drink
£5.00 pt. Beer
Wine per glass / bottle varies according to vineyard.
Don't know about spirits.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/01/2023 20:03

West mids. Glass of wine about £11 pint about £5.80. What I find annoying is AF beer has gone up a lot.

ThreeblackCats · 22/01/2023 20:04

Less than £2. a pint but I’m clever enough to drink at a nice pub, outside of central London.

it really does depend on where you live op.

Cornelious · 22/01/2023 20:07

About 4.50 for a pint. A nice glass of wine around 8. These would be nice places. Soft drinks are around £3

TheDogsMother · 22/01/2023 20:19

Just back from our local (small village in West Sussex). £4.50 for a pint of bitter, £6.30 for a medium Sauvignon.

Andywarholswig · 22/01/2023 20:25

£6.80 for a pint in a local pub - same place in the summer tried to charge me £15.50 for a double G&T - I told them to keep it…. Very unfancy London suburb

mogsrus · 22/01/2023 22:15

Heineken increased in January. 15.8% per keg

IDontWantToBeAPie · 23/01/2023 13:06

Pints are £5-7 usually. G&T is about £9.

gogohmm · 23/01/2023 13:17

£3.90 a pint, £6.20 g&t

Whammyyammy · 23/01/2023 13:29

About £6.50 for a pint and £7 for a wine.
Went into a Wetherspoons whilst visiting a friend last week, 2 pints of beer, a latte(with free refills) and a bottle of J2O and it was just under £11...I was gobsmacked. Was a nice pub too (Henley on thames)

CountZacular · 23/01/2023 13:35

I feel like this would be more interesting and informative if we had a rough idea what area people are posting from.

Aaron95 · 23/01/2023 13:47

Where on earth did you go out - Mayfair? Around here a pint of beer is somewhere between £3.50 and £5 depending where you go. For a non-alcoholic beer and a coke in my local you would be getting change from a fiver.

Deathbyfluffy · 23/01/2023 13:49

All the answers without locations posted with them are absolutely useless - as with anything prices vary a lot by area.
I've lived in a deprived Northern town and in Zone 2 of London - the prices were night and day, so please post a location with your information.

FrenchandSaunders · 23/01/2023 13:52

A rum and coke and a white wine cost me the best part of twenty quid the other day .... couldn't believe it. London, but even so.

FrenchandSaunders · 23/01/2023 13:53

Oh the Henley spoons is lovely. Four of us had a meal there, and a drink each, for about £35 in the summer.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/01/2023 13:57

Our usual drinks - pint of draft beer and a large house white - around £13.50 (Essex)

Snarf23 · 23/01/2023 14:03

Pints are around £4-6 depending what you drink.
wine can be £6-8+ for a large glass
prosecco £6 ish.
Cocktails £7-15

it varies depending on where I am. Chain or local pub/bars will be cheaper, nice restaurants or bars in Manchester more expensive but even then it really varies. Many have offers on or specials etc.

It is more expensive to drink out but everything has gone up and they have to cover their costs too I guess.
