To think my house is haunted?

I don't really believe my house is haunted, at least with my rational logical side. However, a few episodes happened which are slightly creeping me out:

  1. When we moved in, the entire house was left unfurnished. There was only a chair left, upstairs in one of the spare rooms, facing the door. It had a red stain on it and when we took it to the dump dogs kept barking at our car;

  2. In the other spare bedroom, the wall cupboard has child handprints inside that glow in the dark, and the name of my mum and brother written on the wall;

  3. When DD was a baby, the door between her room and the playroom collapsed. No explanation whatsoever - it was a foldable door but still, it had never showed signs of being faulty DD was unharmed thankfully but I was in shock for days.

  4. Lately frames have been falling off the walls, in different rooms (DD's bedroom and the living room). All frames had been hanged a long time ago.

I know I am being silly and maybe I have watched too many horror movies. Please tell me some of your haunted stories if you have any - I would love to hear them!

There is an unexplained board OP for all things woo. If you are looking for similar stories. Not at bedtime though in case you scare yourself silly! 👻

I think we need to see a photo of the children’s hand prints

Photos or it didn't happen.

I believe in woo and all as I've had plenty of weird stuff happen to me or around me over the years. However. some rational explanations:

  1. The chair was evidently an afterthought; it could have been menstrual blood or some meat that had been left there and had leaked.
  2. If your mum and brother have really common names, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a previous child occupant of the house was playing with paints and doing finger painting, and made a kind of mural, putting the names of relatives on there?
  3. Nothing lasts forever. There could have been a structural issue. Or something could have fallen against it. Do you have a pet? Also, if it's a folding door, they're not the most stable of things at the best of times.
  4. Depending on the type of frames, again, could be structural. The walls could be damp, there could be issues with the foundations (not sure if you're in an area that has had lots of rain recently, but that could be a factor) or, if they were hung a long time ago, whatever was holding them up (string, ribbon etc) could have perished.

If you'd like to reassure yourself a little, then burning a little sage or even just spraying round the place with a spray bottle (I'd suggest boiled water and a bit of sea salt) might help. Recite the Lord's Prayer, or St Patrick's Breastplate, or any other prayer that helps you feel more settled and protected.

In my experience, it's not spirits of the dead that cause most of the issues in our world, it's most definitely the living!
