Posting for traffic really.
who has mostly value/ essentials ranges for their groceries and what items do I find to be really good?
I'm saving for a house and really need to get my food shop lower. I do but a lot of value products such as beans, pasta etc but I'm wondering what else is good in these ranges and from what stores?
I usually get ASDA delivery but lately it's always out of stock in the 'essential' yellow label range, so wanting to try Tesco/ Morrisons/ Lidl.
I'm also wondering how many people are having to use these ranges at the moment due to the cost of living or usually buy from these ranges anyway.
I did notice a huge hike in the prices lately with the cost of some of the items almost doubling.
Thanks all x

I have always bought value tinned and frozen veg. I also buy value crumpets, bleach and toilet paper.

Everything has gone up by about 25%

I've always shopped in Aldi since I've been old enough to do my own shopping, so essentially the past 16 years.

Things have gone up in there too, but I'd just go and give Aldi a try in your shoes. You can work out what you do and don't like as you go. I find Aldis range to be better quality than the budget ranges in the other big 4 supermarkets. There's generally only one item of pasta or sauce or whatever, so you'll soon find out if you like their stuff or not.

Aldi for shopping butchers for meat and pounds shops for cleaning products

I read somewhere that Value ranges are riding the fastest of all.

I've always bought from tesco's value range as much as possible, because skint 😂 it's mostly all good.

Dont laugh, but the waitrose essentials range is great. Their beans are better than heinz and 4 tins for 1.70

yousmellnice · 21/01/2023 16:29

I just go to lidl

MaryBerrysCamelToe · 21/01/2023 17:47

I opted for Lidl.
I was really impressed.
Got 4 days shopping for 11 people for £119.50 plus a few extra bits as the next 2 weeks are going to be tight as it's January 🙄
I got 2 whole chicken for roast tomorrow, a huge tray of chicken thighs to portion up for a few meals and loads of freezer bit to see us through as the next fortnight. Just need to get veg, milk and bread really.

I've always bought the value ranges from most supermarkets over the years. I don't buy the meat and fish though so can't comment on those, everything else is fine.
