Technically, Autism is a learning disability so potentially the placement would be an option. The suitability really depends on the individuals, though. Someone with that history would likely benefit from being supported by staff who would be trained and perhaps en have a mental health nurse assigned to the residents. I’ve worked in mixed homes like this and it was ok. Those who were more able generally enjoyed looking out for those who weren’t in their own little ways and staff were trained on mental health as there is crossover.

Like a learning disability, autism is a lifelong condition. Autism is sometimes referred to as a spectrum, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism is not a learning disability, but around half of autistic people may also have a learning disability.
