Received this email reply today from a company, really? It's 2023 why announce your work location? Or just another excuse for poor customer service Hmm

'Thank you for your email. We are working remotely and will respond as soon as possible. There is no need to reply to this acknowledgment or follow up on your original email'

I would assume they mean they're working away from their computer or phone for big periods of the day, so therefore might not reply super quickly.

ProductivePenny · 19/01/2023 20:23

I don’t get your issue?

Remotely can also mean they are working but not in a traditional sense. Sometimes I’ll have an entire day with a client, I’m working but I’m not at my laptop.

Either way I don’t get the annoyance.

Before covid there would never of been a reply like that, a simple thanks for your email we will be in touch bla bla

I think it's an excuse for when a company/service don't provide a prompt turnaround.

That comes across a little rude, but basically saying "yeah, when we can be bothered we may get back to you, but don't contact us again."

Wheelz46 · 19/01/2023 20:58

I have actually seen this message pre-covid. It was from a company who worked overseas a fair bit, hence the 'remote working'.

Scottish company, based in Scotland as am I

I agree it's bizzare.

I rang up a company today to complain about the slowness of the response and got the "staff are still working from home" line.

What fucking difference does the geographical location of the staff make?

Just because it's a Scottish based company doesn't mean that the employees are based in Scotland. Even if there is one employee based in another time zone then they need to set expectations

I know this company do not have staff working out with the UK, like my workplace it's not supported due to tax implications.

I‘m sick to death of people making excuses for piss poor service and communication.

I have an ongoing complaint with a large pension company. They wrote:

“We are currently receiving a higher than normal level of calls which unfortunately has impacted our response times”

What a load of absolute bollox. It’s just insincere empty words.

AuntieJoyce · 19/01/2023 22:35

Unless they’re missionaries YANBU OP

Thesenderofthiscard · 19/01/2023 22:43

I’m with you. I see that message and think it’s just managing expectations for slow service -
and unlikely to be anything to do with people WFH.
