I have only just started browsing this - it's distinctly odd - there are a lot of new beds and wardrobes being advertised with photos of scantily clad young women - this is obviously some sort of scam but what?
There are also lots of individual sellers posting scams with pictures of Martin Lewis endorsing crypto scams - which of course he doesn't. Also other sellers offering brand new items at unbelievable prices - there are so many scams it's hard to see much that looks like legit sales - is this the same for everyone?

Yeah it's total crap. If it's not too late, DON'T CLICK ON THE SCAM LISTINGS. If you do, you'll never see anything else.

If anyone out there knows how to reset marketplace algorithms let me know? 🙋

I thought Facebook/meta has reached an agreement with Martin Lewis.

Looks like they aren't sticking to their side of it.

Regarding ads that were being approved with his face on.

Marketplace listings are a totally different thing. Unless people report them, there’s no way they can all be checked.

What you see is really area dependent, too. I’ve never seen scantily clad ladies or Martin Lewis, or crypto. Around here, the most annoying thing is people listing things for free or low cost when actually they’re a hire company; etc. So even if you’re looking to buy something second hand, the listings are full of companies.

FB Marketplace is a cesspit of scammers, chancers and CF's. It's a shame because they blot out the legitimate things on there. Don’t go near it!

This is unacceptable - if this is true then Meta should be banned from operating FB marketplace.
TV and Newspapers aren't allowed to publish scam ADs - why do give FB a free pass?

Because anything appearing on TV or in print is manually approved. That isn’t the case for online. It wouldn’t be at al cost effective to make it the case. AI reviews massive amounts of ads, posts, etc all across the internet; not just as part of Meta’s offering.

In this specific case; they could ban Martin Lewis’ face from being usable, but then MSE wouldn’t be able to use it either, and they want to.

There are scammers everywhere. Look at all the recent news about fake listings on Amazon, or Vinted scams, or eBay…

Kinnorafron · 18/01/2023 12:00

Of course it could be cost effective - it would just mean them spending some of their vast earnings on caring for the UK public.
The defence that it is not possible is a load of bollocks - it's a choice they are making not to bother and they being allowed to.

When you search anything click ‘condition’ then click to ‘used like new, used good & used fair.’ Then you should see a lot more genuine second hand goods in your area not brand new SCAMS,
