Would it be unreasonable to do this on your driving test?

If you are driving on your test, and the sun is in your eyes, would it be acceptable to drive with one hand on the wheel and put your other hand up to your eyes to shied from the sun, to see where your going?

Would you discuss this with the examiner first, perhaps or would they expect you to know?

I was an instructor for 7 years - I kept a visor extension in the car for shorter pupils.
Have a look at these

I am guessing you were failed for this? Rightly so

Stompythedinosaur · 17/01/2023 14:10

Of course you can't drive with one hand on a driving test!

Of course that wouldnt be acceptable.

Pull over and park safety until you are able to drive without having to have a hand off the steering wheel, gears, neutral etc.

I can understand the question because, if you’re small, quite often the visor doesn’t obscure all of the brightness.

And if you're tall and it's a small car, the visor often means you can't see very well through the remaining windscreen! I'm amazed, with all the technology and adjustability of modern cars, that nobody has thought of installing adjustable-height visors.

I had no idea those visor extensions existed either. How brilliant. I am 5'2" and have real trouble driving at this time of year.

I always wear sunglasses and have to sit extremely upright, which is uncomfortable for long periods and even then there are times when the sun is lower than the visor.

@KimMG I couldn't get that link to work but will do some Googling. Thanks!
