Typed password into a phishing scam

SlinkySienna · 17/01/2023 12:42

Had a phishing scam email which was exactly the same as an email I receive regularly. The website address was different but they just added another digit so it looked incredibly legitimate. I didn't realise this. I feel so stupid and I use the same password for a few accounts. I'm very upset and paranoid that my accounts are going to be hacked and I can't remember all the accounts I have off the top of my head. I use a number of different passwords so not all will have the same one. Has anyone had this happen before? I've changed all my passwords on things I can remember or are sensitive like my emails. In panic mode!

All you can do is report it and change as many passwords as you can. Fingers crossed because you noticed you'll be ok.

All my passwords have the same core password eg abc123D, and the detail varies from site to site.

Then each password is customised according to the website, so mumsnet would be, for example abc123Dmum. If it requires a symbol it ends with a specific one eg - so if I get password fail I know to try again with a
Means I cannot forget a password, and it's only 1 to change if I mistakenly use it in the wrong place

doh symbol in above example was * but it changed to bold!

Was it a money request from PayPal?
I had one this morning and almost clicked the link to decline it. Was very authentic looking. I've reported it to PayPal and changed all my passwords.
