To send DD to nursery?

She only started 2 weeks ago so I’m not sure of myself.

She didn’t seem herself after coming home on Thursday, was sick during the night and has had a snotty nose and what I would say is a mild cough since. She was also sick Saturday evening but not since. Temp fine, eating fine and is well in herself.

She is due in tomorrow, still snotty and coughing a bit. Would you send her in still? Their policy is very vague, saying not to send in children with obvious streaming colds or within 48 hours of any D/V.

I wouldn’t be bothered by other kids coming in like her but I don’t want to get this wrong! They aren’t picking up the phone to ask either.

If I kept DD home when she was a bit snotty and occasionally coughing she'd never go in!

This is exactly what I was thinking!

Was she sick because of the coughing?

DS is occasionally sick once when he has a cold & cough, I think he makes himself retch with the coughing and swallows a lot of gunk in his sleep.

I have and would send him in that scenario, as long as there is no temperature.

If she is eating, drinking and generally fine then I would send her in

@WombatBombat yes I think so as it was when she was in bed, she’s not been sick at all when she’s been up and about during the day.

Realistically, if you keep them home because they have a cough and a snotty nose, you will literally not send them in between November and March.

But for me, it would probably be more about whether you need to go to work tomorrow. If you're home anyway and you think she's still feeling poorly, I'd maybe consider keeping her home for the day. If you are meant to be working, I'd send her in. There will be many more sick days when you'll need an unexpected day off to come.
