Anyone dealing with blood! Doctors, nurses, cleaners, HCAs, first aiders...

Rainallnight · 15/01/2023 00:32

You know those sort of cupboards on the roads with loads of wires and little plugs inside them, that I guess are for phone, internet, etc? And you know how you sometimes see men working on them, with tools, etc.

I could not do that. I would rather eat it. I’m shit at detail, patience and practical things. Every time I see them I think they deserve a medal.

OneStepOneStumble · 15/01/2023 00:37

Nursery staff. Dealing with the intense emotions and high needs of babies and preschool children all day every day and then some of those have their own children to go home to at the end of the day. I dunno how they have the energy to give to other peoples kids like they do (they're all brilliant and paid so poorly for the service the provide)

AndyWarholsPiehole · 15/01/2023 00:41

Those people that clear fat bergs in the sewers.

Rebel2023 · 15/01/2023 00:41

I honestly can't think of anything really
Abattoir I guess I couldn't do

I've worked as a carer, 999 staff, call centre...apparently all my jobs have been other peoples nightmares!

magicthree · 15/01/2023 00:41

Runningoncoffeealone · 15/01/2023 00:44

Hospice worker - I once worked in a dementia care home and the moments leading up to some residents deaths affected me way more than I thought possible.

Also dentist - I can't stand the sound of the drill 😅

RobertaFirmino · 15/01/2023 00:59

Definitely teachers. The children might not be so bad, it's their parents who sound insufferable!

ThirtyThreeTrees · 15/01/2023 01:03

Almost anything health or hygiene related, nurses, doctors, dentist, podiatrists, carers etc. (Pharmacy & physio being the main exceptions)

Anything law enforcement, police, prison wardons, rehabilitation counsellors etc.

Teaching or childcare.

All take a special kind of person with compassionate & caring & patience. I would fall too far short of that.

They are also get far too much abuse and are very under resourced & underappreciated too, despite this exceptions are massive.

Total respect for anyone in those roles.

MissingMoominMamma · 15/01/2023 01:08

There are jobs listed that I’d quite like!

I couldn’t work at a computer all day, sitting down.

RisingSunn · 15/01/2023 01:09

Construction workers that build skyscrapers and huge tall bridges, basically anyone working at great height outside. Scares the bejesus out of me thinking about it.

ilo · 15/01/2023 01:24

mathanxiety · 15/01/2023 01:24

Nurse, chef, carer, psych nurse, preschool teacher, teacher of kids aged 12-15, garbage disposal, janitor, school bus driver.

It strikes me I'm describing the role of many mothers.

NHS workers
Abattoirs
Sewage maintenance people

Unicorn2022 · 15/01/2023 01:34

Most of the above but also I couldn't work in reprographics and stand there all day photocopying documents, taking out and replacing the staples and making sure you do it double sided if needed. I had to do a couple of hours of it and detested it with a passion.

Mrstumbletap · 15/01/2023 01:37

echt · 15/01/2023 01:38

k1233 · 15/01/2023 01:39

Executive assistant / PA - I'm always in awe at how cheery they are. I'd be stabby and cranky! Definitely don't have the aptitude for it
