I would if l thought it would help as have an overactive bladder..no leakage, just a constant urge to use the bathroom. I would do anything. Already spent 2000 euro on the chair that strengthens your pelvic floor..did strengthen it but urgency still there. It is a matter of mental health and l would probably try anything that came on the market that l was aware of.

The battery operated device I referred to earlier has a setting for urge and it worked for me in 8 weeks. It cost about £50 and initially you use it every night then go down to a couple of times a week. My issue was urge not stress but I do both settings, half an hour on each.

@ancientgran what is the device ?

Florissant · 15/01/2023 13:30

I'd like to know, too. I do pelvic floor exercises but would appreciate any further help.

There was a study. For most women (without other physical issues) pelvic floor exercises will prevent incontinence

they managed to help 80 years olds in a care home. It’s always worth trying to improve the muscles and not just do what we always do, accept that this is just something that happens and allow these bloody corporations to market it all as normal, inevitable and something we have to pay for their products as the only solution.

incontinence is NOT normal nor is it inevitable for all.

I’ve just attended a workshop on a different female issue and again there was so much discussion about how we’ve been told to just accept x y or z as a normal part of female aging.

Yeah it’s that “without other physical issues” that is the trick though. I tried for years and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working. Then during a smear the nurse pointed out I had a pretty serious prolapse requiring surgery (I just figured it was meant to look like that after a baby) and the post surgery physio realised that my nerves down there in one side are completely wrecked - roughly, I tell them to do the exercise, my brain thinks they are, they do not move.

Like to know the device too although soon l am getting botox into bladder in an effort to stop the constant urgency.

Sorry, busy day yesterday so just saw posts asking about device. Hope I don't get told off for advertising but this is what I have.

I got it from Amazon where it is a bit cheaper, £56.99 now, think it was a bit cheaper six months ago. smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001S2LGH0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It;s really stopped that horrible urgency feeling for me, I could feel the difference within days but it was about 8 weeks before I'd say it was done, then I went onto just doing it a couple of times a week.

There are different settings and times. I do half an hour for urge and half an hour for tone but started off with stress rather than tone.

Don't know if it will work for everyone but for me it has been amazing but I don't think my problem was extreme, no stress problem just the urgency, so maybe that makes a difference. I will feel bad if people waste their money and it doesn't work for them but I thought it was worth a punt and for me it definitely was. Good luck if you try it.

YANBU. My first instinct is that this is (another) inappropriate product for MN to be promoting.

Yes I felt uncomfortable with it too. I have bladder issues and was pleased to see the headline so clicked on the wrticle. But instead of advice it’s just one long advert for something to shove in your vagina.

Fed up of Mumsnet trying to shift the focus away from mum stuff like baby products and towards sex toys and other crap to shove up us.

Personally I would MUCH rather use tena pads than shove something up me. Bet a man designed it.

Thanks, @ancientgran.

See the gp, anyone who's suffering, adhd ask for a referral to a uro/gynae specialist. There's loads that can be done. I have an overactive bladder and the oxybutinin I take has really sorted it.

Bestcatmum · 16/01/2023 12:34

I don't have bladder leaks but I can drink pints of water all day long and never need the loo then at night I'm in and out of the loo 20 times. What's that all about?
