To use a different hairdresser

I was booked in this morning and an hour before my appointment (baring in mind it takes me nearly half hr to get there) I had a call to say there was a mix up and basically a double booking so can I rearrange? I missed the call to begin with as I was getting dressed. I'd had a disturbed night so had to set an alarm to get up and rush about. Noticed the missed call and text once I was all ready and phoned back to say I didn't want to rearrange as I'd been waiting ages since my last cut. Unfortunately no one else free to cut it until the afternoon and I already had plans. I have arranged to go next weekend but I'm so disappointed as I'm out tonight and really wanted my hair done professionally. Also I'm upset that the hairdresser has chosen the other client over me and I've been going years and spent a considerable amount of money there. Now I only have a cut and blow so i would be considerably lower earnings than the other client. This isn't the first time it's happened either.
My daughter goes to another place and happens to have an appointment on Monday. She has offered to fit me in with my dd (she asked her for today but she was busy) I'm a really loyal person and don't want to offend my current hairdresser as it will be like I've had a strop and flounced but at the same time my hair is in desperate need of cutting.

Wibu to go elsewhere?

You don't have any loyalty to specific hairdresses, just think of yourself like the hairdresser likely would.

Of course YANBU

SheWoreYellow · 14/01/2023 18:06

Double booked, more than once? They are either completely incompetent or keep bumping you for other people.

NEmama · 14/01/2023 18:08

Yanbu change

SpringSparrow · 14/01/2023 18:09

Of course you aren’t being unreasonable. I’ve just changed my hairdresser because I realised that another hairdresser in my town is about £20 cheaper for a cut and blow dry. £57 vs £36. It’s a shame because I did really like the original hairdresser, but I’d rather the £20 was in my pocket than hers 😬.

Unless the hairdresser is exceptionally good at cutting your hair (e.g. you have wavy/curly hair or a cowlick or double crown, go elsewhere.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 14/01/2023 18:10

Absolutely go elsewhere

stopringingme · 14/01/2023 18:13

I would have no hesitation in going elsewhere as who is to know if it will happen again next weekend, if your Daughters hairdresser can fit you in take the appointment.

Thank you I'm always thinking of other people's feelings and the thought of saying I'm not going back fillls me with dread but I suppose I can do it by text!

@Needmyhaircutting , you care more about their feelings than they do about yours?

ladymacbeth · 14/01/2023 20:12

Why do you have to say you're not going back? Just cancel the appointment and never make another. No drama or fuss

NellietheElephantpackedhertrunks · 14/01/2023 20:28

They don’t care enough about you, so just don’t go again. That’s the joy of a client/hairdresser relationship unless you are their relative or actual friend.
