Is this a bit young to have this issue ?

I've noticed over the last few weeks a bit of trouble reading very small writing and needing to hold stuff further away or it's blurry...

Am I just getting old ? Did anyone else have this problem earlier than usual ? Everything I'm reading says it starts early 40s...

I've had to wear glasses since I was 18, had an eye test at school age 15 & failed miserably.

Go to an opticians and get your eyes tested. Do you not go anyway?

dolor · 13/01/2023 20:15

I started to need glasses when I got to thirty-three. It's not too early so go get your eyeballs checked..🤓

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/01/2023 20:15

Not particularly. Most people I know got their first reading glasses at around 40 (including me).

I haven't been for ages TBH. I'm short sighted normally.. but haven't had this problem before.

I'm will definitely go tomorrow if I can get so see one !

Drink more water, get more sleep, use eye drops to refresh your eyes. You can need reading glasses early just like you can go grey early. 37 isn’t that much below early 40s

Itisbetter · 13/01/2023 20:17

Can you read the small print without your glasses?

Yeah it's definitely not miles away, that's why I'm wondering if it's that or something else..

I can, but it's just not as easy as it was. It's suddenly changed. I have to strain a bit.

Some kids are long sighted as well, I have worn classes since I was 7.

Tessisme · 13/01/2023 20:21

I was about 40 when I started needing reading glasses. I first noticed I couldn't read small writing on a coloured background, then it was just anything small🤓🤓

boboshmobo · 13/01/2023 20:23

I had perfect visit until I was 45 and then I didn't . I thought it was very quick but had an eye test and apparently it's normal . I find glasses very annoying having never worn them but can't read anything without them 🙄🙄

Yes definitely, that's true. I'll just get it checked ASAP. It's probably an age thing already. My eyes have never been great ( but short sighted ). So I wouldn't be surprised if it just hits me earlier !

I have MS to be honest and I'm trying to work out if it could be to do with that too. Will start with optician. Probably just getting old though.. can't believe I'm going to be wearing my glasses on a chain around my neck soon like a true middle aged woman.

I'm still 18 in my head. Smile
