To be concerned that an urgent colonoscopy referral is going to take 6+ months?

I’ve had an urgent referral for a colonoscopy with suspected IBD due to rectal bleeding and high calprotection/inflammation. My GP said I should be seen within 4 weeks and to chase up if I don’t hear back from the hospital, so I phoned them and they said the wait times for urgent referrals are currently 6+ months.

I’m more fortunate than most as my symptoms aren’t too bad most of the time, but when they do flare up I have needed time off work, yet I don’t even have a proper diagnosis to tell work about.

I can’t afford to go private, and I find myself feeling really vulnerable knowing we don’t seem to have a functioning healthcare system at the moment

Be grateful it isn't suspected cancer. 2 week wait is 6 plus at the moment...

I waited 16 months for mine and the only reason I got it then was because I had a long stay in hospital with sepsis and they were doing lots of procedures because I'd been so ill
Absolutely ridiculous waiting times

Gosh that's terrible. I was referred for a routine ultrasound recently and had it after 2 months, so 6 months for urgent is bad. I suppose you can take comfort that they don't suspect cancer though, you'd be seen much quicker if they did.

Was referred for a MRI beginning of August 2022 for constant daily pain in my hips and surrounding areas. I got a letter in December stating a date on January 6th. It was 5 months from the referral date.
I have another MRI for a head scan and this will be 3 weeks from the referral date.
