Interview tips - marketing, help!

I have an interview this Friday for a digital marketing role. I haven't been in work for a long time (raising babies etc) but now feel like it's time to go back. I'm very nervous and don't have a lot of marketing experience although I did work briefly in a journalism role when I was much younger.

I'm gobsmacked I got the interview to be honest. But it's a small company and I don't feel like the role will be particularly taxing, they just want someone to manage their social media and website really. Does anyone have any ideas of questions that might be asked at the interview? I'm really really bricking it as it's been so long since I was in an interview environment and the thought of being put under scrutiny like that is making me nauseas! So I want to be as well prepared as I possibly can. I've been researching different types of digital marketing, good recent marketing campaigns, trends in the industry....can anyone think of anything else? Thank you!

I've handled social media accounts and managed a social media team (but never worked in marketing), but some of the things to consider:

How do you handle a crisis, e.g. your campaign has hit headlines for the wrong reason and you're getting a lot of flak on social media

How would you approach engagement on different platforms - e.g. how would you tailor the campaign to twitter vs Instagram for example

How would you determine who to target your campaigns to? E.g. demographics, location etc

How do you feel the firm could/should market their brand online? Quite an obvious one but for example Saga holidays probably wouldn't have videos/images from an Ibiza club on their marketing.

Read up on search engine optimisation too, it may or may not be relevant to the role. It useful to understand.

How do you measure success of a campaign? E.g. click throughs, engagement, what data points would you use.

Hope this helps!

Do you know who their target audience is and how you'd tailor your marketing based on that target audience?

Think about examples of when you've had to show important skills: attention to detail; presentation skills; communication skills; etc.

Think of examples of companies with good marketing and bad marketing and how you've learnt from those. (For example, the Volkswagen Italy social media handle (volkswagenitalia) or OVO's advert about eating porridge or doing starjumps.

This is so helpful, thank you, things that I hadn't thought of.

Do you know about SEO and how that works?

I know it's about making sure your website is near the top of the list on Google searches etc but I'm not sure how it works Blush
