Exh arrested for indecent images

Posting here for traffic. Hope that’s ok!

I don’t know where to start, I’m in complete shock. I’m a regular poster but have name changed for this.

My exh’s partner has phoned me to tell me he has been arrested for viewing indecent images of under 18s. He rang me later on and said he has been released on bail, and that an old email account of his had been linked to an account that has viewed images of under 18s. His phone has been taken and it will be at least 3 months until the forensics look at it. His bail conditions say he is allowed no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18. He denied it all but I can’t imagine he’d admit it to me anyway. Can I ring the police for more information?

We have a child who is 15 and absolutely dotes on their dad. I am absolutely devastated for them. I presume social services will be contacting me. How long is this likely to take? Obviously my absolute priority is my child but what do I tell them? Will social services want to speak to them directly?

I am confident that my child is safe and hasn’t been put at risk but equally, knowing what I do now, what the hell am I meant to do?

Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

OP everything else aside, as you say you work with children, you need to be proactive and speak with the DSL as soon as possible about this. Just as an FYI before all the agencies (police, ss etc) start digging. Protect yourself and your job by being totally honest and transparent.

Amazing how many people have had this experience with their partners and it didn’t just end with them not being charged but actually being ‘proven innocent’. How extraordinary.

As for these people being an easy target……fuck me there’s an apologist for these perverts under every rock. If people who enjoyed watching the sexual abuse of children were easy targets they’d be locked up a lot more……..and of course the easiest way to avoid being an ‘easy target’ of this kind is to not seek out images of children being sexually abused.

@Ihatethenewlook I always found this strange u can marry soMe one in the uk at 16 but couldn't send your husband a dirty pic until 2nd anniversary lol

You actually can legally in this situation - it’s legal to send/take pictures if there is an ‘enduring family relationship’ so a marriage would count.

It’s still creepy though, particularly if there’s a big age difference.

Hi

this same exact thing happened to me, my partner got arrested for the exact same accusations, the police had apparently been given intelligence that he had viewed IIOC cat A B and C. I was devastated and was left in limbo for 10 hours after he was arrested at work and my home was raided. A van outside checked devices on our doorstep and one by one they were handed back apart from his personal mobile phone. SS quickly became involved and partner was bailed to the home address with a safety plan in place (i couldn't understand why he was bailed to the home address if I'm honest given the accusations) He denied all accusations and said the outcome of the investigation would prove his innocence. I believed him. We were told it would be 10 months before devices were handed back and was asked to do a lie detector test which I found very strange given they can’t be used as evidence in a uk court of law (was for safeguarding purposes apparently) he passed with flying colours and was allowed to stay in the family home) 4 months into the investigation we were called to say the case had been dropped and he could collect his things. I couldn’t understand why considering they told us it would be 10 month’s minimum! We later found out our Wi-Fi had been hacked, this was due to using a VPN to access a TV site called KODI. All I’m saying is DONT write your EXH off yet. Police get it wrong and it happens OFTEN! Unfortunately with crimes like this you are guilty until proven innocent. It’s the most traumatic experience I have ever experienced and when I searched online it was all negative. I’m just wanted you to know there are positive outcomes and some men accused are INNOCENT. I really hope it all works out in the best interest for you and your daughter

I just want to add that it was pinged that these images had been viewed on our wifi back in may. He was arrested as he’s the only male in the home and the bill payer. Like I said unfortunately with cases like this you are guilty until proven innocent. They may be able to distinguish what’s Happened before waiting for the devices to come back so you might not have to wait for them to come back for an outcome like we didn’t. Hope what I’ve said helps

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if 'progolfernot' was still on this thread as I have a very similar situation with a family member and would appreciate any advice or reassurance.

Thank you
