To want dark in a no light zone

I know IBU really but….
We live in a dark sky area even though it’s relatively populated. I love this. I love being able to see so many stars at night and it’s to protect bats and generally fab.
AIBU to think if you don’t like it, and I understand the downsides of safety and security, you don’t buy a house here?
Or is it reasonable to move in, get around the lack of street laps by installing two big fuck off lamps on your gates and shine them into your neighbours windows?
The IABU bit is that they don’t really disturb my sleep because my curtains are quite thick. But I still think it’s so selfish not to consider the house opposite.
Go…. I need a head wobble so do hit me.

This might be of assistance

...Environmental Protection Act 1990. This means that artificial light can now be categorised as a statutory nuisance. In practical terms this means that if light from your property falls onto that of your neighbours’ causing light trespass, you could be causing a statutory nuisance...

...Once satisfied that a statutory nuisance exists, may occur or recur, the Council has powers to issue an Abatement Notice against the person responsible for the nuisance or the owner or occupier of the premises from which it emanates. This will usually give the lighting owner a reasonable period within which to rectify the problem...

Thanks. I need to discuss it with them first don’t I… but I think if they are that selfish and don’t give a fig about the dark zone I feel it’s not going to go down well :(
I feel bad if I accidentally leave our back door light on overnight.
