To think that this is censoring bad reviews?

I ordered a large Christmas bouquet & several other Christmas floral items from M&S. On the whole they ween't too bad, but the large bouquet was sent out with no water reservoir or even the stems wrapped in anything moist (hope I haven't triggered anyone with that word! 😂), and as a consequence the roses were all drooping. They didn't recover, but I had ordered extra stuff which I used to pad out the bouquet and disguise the roses. I was so busy over Christmas that I hadn't had a chance to phone & complain.

I was sent several emails asking me to review my purchase, so I thought I would be better off doing that rather than hanging on the phone for ages.
I explained why I was giving a bad review, that because of the lack of any hydration, it very much depends on how late in the day your delivery is made as to whether the bouquet survives. This is not down to the delivery company; it is purely because M&S are cutting their costs by sending bouquets out without hydration.

I received an email from them stating that because my review seems to be about the delivery of the item rather than the actual bouquet, they would not accept it. They completely missed the point of my review 🤦‍♀️

This has happened several times before (yes, I know, I should stop ordering from them!). In the summer I ordered some flowers for my mum; I received an email around 9am saying they were out with the delivery company but they weren't actually delivered till nearly 6pm, so you can imagine how crap they looked after a day in a hot van during this year's heatwave. 😡

So AIBU thinking that they are censoring my (bad) review?

They do censor negative reviews. I had 4 hampers not arrive over Xmas and one that arrived with everything soaking wet.
They do not censor fetishists posting on their site thou: discover.hubpages.com/style/MS-Panties-and-the-men-who-buy-them

Once again it seems mens weird perversions are fine whilst women's perfectly legitimate reviews are censored. They seem to have no idea who their actual customers are.

To be fair to M&S, it’s extremely unhelpful to other customers when online reviews are dominated by comments that have nothing to do with the actual product.

That said, your point is reasonable. I would submit a second review focusing on the lifespan of the flowers rather than the reason. And also stop repeatedly buying from a company with whom you have bad experiences!

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/01/2023 12:05

I’ve not had good experiences with M&S flowers. I ordered a pair of jeans on click and collect and when I got them home, they’d clearly been worn and returned. The tags were missing and there was a hair tie in the pocket. They didn’t ask me to review those though.

I bought some bedding and reviewed it as requested. I’ve just had another email asking me to review it. Surely there must be a way of checking who has reviewed. I think companies censor negative reviews.

Of course they filter the reviews - it’s why reviews don’t mean anything. If I had a business then I’d only put the good reviews on my website too. Even independent review sites are paid to only out up good reviews (looking at you Trust Pilot).

Lockheart · 04/01/2023 12:11

If they were censoring bad reviews then they would only ever have positive reviews on the site and would have 5 stars on trust pilot.

The most basic of glances will tell you that neither of the above are true. There are literally one star reviews from the last couple of days on their flowers on their own website.

Then why is M&S's trust pilot rating only 1.8 stars?

Movinghouseatlast · 04/01/2023 12:15

It doesn't help you now, but Freddie's Flowers don't add any hydration and the flowers are always amazing. They do gift bouquets now which is a newish thing.

Because they haven’t paid… obviously

Iwantmyoldnameback · 04/01/2023 12:23

They are terrible for sending flowers out dry. I will never use them again.

WeWillLookBack · 04/01/2023 12:36

Yep, I ordered some trousers for my Husband (I refuse to buy anything from them for myself) They were really poor quality - threads hanging, awful material. I tried three times to write a review - each time if got refused. I followed all of their guidelines (nothing about delivery etc). I know it was because I wanted to rate it as 1 star.

Eustonia · 04/01/2023 13:04

I rang them when a bad bouquet was delivered and sent a picture at their request. I received a voucher for another bouquet.

Maybe speak to someone to complain?

Ivesaidenough · 04/01/2023 13:45

I wrote two separate reviews about two items I received from M&S, one was fine, the other arrived in a complete state, crushed and broken. Guess which review didn't get put up. I was really cross.
