We've had generic teens and husbands, so what about generic young adults?

In my eyes, the generic MN young adult is someone who:

Earns above above the average UK salary, despite being "just 21 years old".
They own their own home and managed to save for a deposit without any help from their parents or an inheritance.
They were top of their class at their (RG) university and participated in a wide variety of extra-curriculars.
They cooked budget meals from scratch and never once spent any time living off pot noodles, takeaway pizza and crisps.
They've had their license since they were 17, paid for lessons/insurance themselves from their part-time job and are responsible drivers who would never even consider driving above the speed limit.

Er, no. Not on MN and not anywhere else afaik. Hmm dealing with unreasonable landlords and a dearth of rented accommodation is more like it.Hmm

Oh, I must have forgot to put lighthearted 🙄

It's a subject a bit too close to home at the moment I fear!

I envision a Location, Location, Location type. I.e works in Tesco part time and wants a starter home costing 350k with a huge garden and room to extend. No help from mum and dad and has money to burn.

Only if you insist on taking it seriously.

And who now has a side hustle on Tik Tok / Insta but has less than 3k followers and thinks they deserve freebies from companies because they’re “influencers” now.

They are strapping if they’re men and lean if they’re women.

God, my adult children fail on every single one of those points. I am going to have to cancel my Mumsnet membership.

Yes all the boys have gone from “cheeky” to “strapping” now they’ve grown up a bit.

While the girls have gone from “sassy” to “lean” now they’re women.

Oh yes, the daughters are all "a slim size six" and the sons all play rugby and are at least 6'2" Grin

Yes where are all these 19yo 6’4” rugby playing lads and petite size 6 18yo 5’11” swishy haired young women? Not here in Yorkshire obviously 🤣
