to be concerned about HRV measure on Fitbit?

I found this measurement (not a premium feature) by accident and notice my reading is around 30ms! Dangerously low.

Resting heart rate is fine, around 61. Oxygen 96%. BMI 21. I feel fine! Vegetarian. Bloods fine. But is my heart health at a massive risk?

I’m active without overdoing it. Small children so literally not a minute to myself (DH great, we’re both busy with them as no family help).

I sleep well.

Seems like lots of people have the same issue and when measured with more reliable methods get better results community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Versa-Smartwatches/How-accurate-is-HRV/td-p/4499184

It doesn't measure it properly. I had a Garmin for a short time that had a totally different HRV to my old watch.

Apparently you should only take the measurements at set times. Mine varied massively. I ignore it now!

Mine says it's 15ms. Does that mean I'm dead?

thesonicoscillator · 02/01/2023 13:51

Last night's sleep for me says 18ms. I drank a lot of wine yesterday though so wonder if that counts towards it.

Meggie2008 · 02/01/2023 13:59

The highest mine is showing over the last week is 31. It was 14 last night and 12 the night before that, which is a little interesting as the last two days I've come down with a bad cold

Jumbojem · 02/01/2023 14:06

Are all your readings on Fitbits? I have a Garmin and mine is 46ms. Baseline says 44-55ms.
Mine is always lower (but still in the mid 30s) when I've drunk too much wine.
Garmin only measures overnight during sleep I think. It's a measure of rest and recovery I thought?
None of these smartwatches are hugely accurate though and the best thing to do is probably note what your average is and just be wary if it fluctuates massively from that.

All on Fitbit for me. Only measures through the night too. Your readings seem very reasonable! 30 is worryingly low.

I ignore mine. My HRV rate is always way too low using it. 14 at night not unusual. I am in tip top condition. Been on online forums and consensus is that it is not reliable.

The Garmin one is relative to yourself if that makes sense? When it first arrived (earlier this year) as a feature on mine, it monitored me for 2 weeks before establishing my baseline and the different zones. Mine is showing as balanced today and is 94. When I was very stressed in October and eventually had a breakdown left my job, it was red every day and down to 50/60, and it definitely coincided with when I felt horrific. I still don’t think it’s especially accurate or scientific, but like all this kind of data, it’s relative to itself and the more you use it, the better the data is.

This is why I will never get a Fitbit
or any fitness watch. My health anxiety would be through the roof. I would be monitoring my every blooming heartbeat and I’d definitely have pronounced myself dead as a dodo within 24 hours of ownership. No thanks.
