Husband gone to gym

Kids ill with chickenpox, 3&6 years old. Kids have been sleeping badly and husband and I have more or less each been looking after one child in the night, though I’ve been with the 3 year old who’s the most unsettled. Last night he slept a total of 4 hours. I’ve been ill for the last two weeks and just starting to get better. Husband has helped out in this time with whatever needs doing when he’s not working, and tried to re-arrange some work to be here for a bit in the morning, but also prioritised his gym time throughout. I wanted to ask whether this is fair or whether he should give up a couple of mornings at the gym to help more? Or has he been doing enough?

We’re having a rough time at the moment with elderly parents and the gym has helped DH to cope with it all. Maybe this is your husbands coping mechanism … as long as he does his bit when he is home, and it sounds like he does.

You don’t seem to understand how discussion boards work 😁

I do but you are just being goady and missing the mark picking at me as I used the word help as it worked in the context of my post, him rearranging work etc, I’m fully aware it’s not ‘helping’ to care for his own child. Plus like I said the thread resolved before you even posted!

I sympathise because I prioritise exercise once all childcare has been done but my DH does not have that in his life. He sees me ‘escaping’ the family home whereas if he also wanted to go out to do things, he would not be stopped. Doesn’t stop him from feeling resentful at times.

You definitely need to get away for a couple of hours. He can hold the fort while you're out.
