Neighbours deliveries

In the lead up to Christmas, both myself and neighbours have had more deliveries than normal. On occasion, we have not been in and the drivers have either left them on the porch, or the neighbour has taken it in maybe once or twice. If they have delivered to the neighbour, they usually come straight round with it when they see us arriving home.

On the opposite foot, the neighbours have also had more deliveries and we have always been happy to take them in when asked. However, whenever we have tried to take them over to them, they don't answer the door and several times we have been left with their parcels for 2-3 days until they have come round themselves for the parcels.

Today, we have had another delivery for them, and on the box under delivery note, it says "leave with neighbour" and the driver specifically pointed this out to us. The neighbours are home! We have tried three times today to take it round, but no answer each time. Today's delivery is from one of those meal prep companies and I'm assuming contains fresh food, but it's been sat in my dining room all day!

Would I be unreasonable to stop taking in their parcels for them? I've had to move this one out of the hallway as the dog kept having a sniff and paw at the box. I don't mind the odd parcel when they aren't home, but now they seem to specifically be telling companies to leave things with us!

I've got a lovely black sign on my front door, professionally printed from eBay, that asks that couriers and Post Office do not leave my parcels with neighbours. They all abide by my request. You could have one that says I DO NOT TAKE IN PARCELS FOR NEIGHBOURS.

Open it, keep it, deny it got delivered, say the same thing has happened to a few of your deliveries too lately, and isn't it such a nuisance?

I always put in the note section, if I’m not in, please knock at …., or call me on …. Thank you.

Ive never had meat delivered, but I would text them, saying whatever is in that parcel, hurry up and collect it, because the dog is way to interested in it!!

Are they working from home so unable to answer the door?
I doubt it means leave with neighbour regardless, it means leave with neighbour if they don’t open the door.
I couldn’t get too worked up about it, assuming it’s not a whole kitchen been delivered, it’s a box or two.

Cheeky bastards. I voted YABU as I'd have stopped accepting their parcels after the first few times they didn't collect.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 30/12/2022 21:32

If you know they are home I would just leave it on their doorstep.

We don't accept next doors parcels anymore as they seemed to think we should deliver them to them later. They just never came to pick them up. We'd end up going round with them but it was happening about once a week so we left the last one and it ended up being a whole week before we put it on their doorstep. Delivery drivers sometimes look a bit Confused when we refuse their parcels now but we just say "they never pick them up" and they get it.

Another one who has stopped accepting parcels (for one side - the other side is lovely) as they never come round to collect and we frequently ended up being left with bulky boxes blocking our front door for several days at a time. They’re not very nice anyway, so I will admit to a certain level of joy in declining their deliveries these days Grin
