YABU😮

I can't stand butter on cold toast 🤢

I have Lurpak melted into hot crunchy toast.

wonderingwhatsnext · 29/12/2022 13:36

YANBU about the butter but I prefer my bread toasted under a gas grill.

summer788 · 29/12/2022 13:37

Cheap butter doesn't bother me but I do like lurpak

Toast. The food of the gods. Warbies toastie. Toaster till darkish brown. Salted lurpak buttered straight away.

Either cheese spread or marmalade

DairyDiary · 29/12/2022 13:38

You sound like my DM - exactly like her. I agree that the blue warburtons is the best of white sliced but what the fuck is the nice thing about cold toast with hard lumps of unmelted butter!? That’s rank!

I almost never have toast but, when I do, I have something major on it (like smashed avocado and a poached egg or creamy mushrooms). The toast is just a vessel for me. I get the seeded sensations loaf most of the time.

I call that hotel toast.

I like hotel toast but most important it has to be toasted. We've had this post recently so I have dejavu.

Medium toasted; butter or margarine when warm topped with marmite.

ShippingNews · 29/12/2022 13:43

I'm with you. Toast the bread, let it cool until almost cold, spread pure butter, sometimes spread marmalade. Perfect.

bluenoseelephant · 29/12/2022 13:44

Or post birth toast!

Cold by the time you get to spread your butter.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/12/2022 13:44

Sprouted grain with peanut butter, honey and banana.
if as an indulgence it's challah with a good quality strawberry or sour cherry jam and a cup of strong tea.

hamsterchump · 29/12/2022 13:45

Light to medium toasted, butter applied immediately then extra salt sprinkled on because no salted butter is quite salty enough for me.

WeAreAllLionesses · 29/12/2022 13:46

Should be brown bread, HAS to be nice butter but agree with you - toast cooled down so butter doesn't melt!

AriettyHomily · 29/12/2022 13:50

Lightly toasted, butter has to melt, and be actual proper butter.

OR

Hotel roast where it's so cold it's chewy and the butter looks like cheese.

Davros · 29/12/2022 13:52

M&S thick white sliced, reasonably well toasted, M&S spreadable butter (no oil etc) then any of a selection of spreads

  • English honey
  • lime marmalade
  • marmite, especially the new one with truffle
  • various jams but never strawberry as that should only be eaten in the afternoon
If I have marmite, that has to come first and another slice, if I have one, has to come second if the spread is sweet. Savoury followed by sweet
Allschoolsareartschools · 29/12/2022 13:54

Medium Granary, left to cool until crispy.
Apricot jam, no butter.

Burgoo · 29/12/2022 13:55

Toasted

MajorCarolDanvers · 29/12/2022 13:57

I let mine cool too

sanityisamyth · 29/12/2022 13:58

Oh stoppit. I want toast now................. I have already had some so it's not going to happen. Damn this thread !

Teaandcrumpets95 · 29/12/2022 13:59

Warburtons toastie thick (orange pack) toasted to a nice light golden colour.
Butter spread immediately so it's melted in and topped with smooth strawberry jam 😋😋
More butter to the amount of jam. Served with a large mug of tea, perfect 👌

WinterFoxes · 29/12/2022 14:01

I also like Warburtons - no sugar wholemeal. Toasted until almost black and flaming. With fresh unsalted butter.

I just want to make sure all the Marmite lovers have seen this
