To avoid knee-high boots due to weight on legs?

Lis1992 · 28/12/2022 15:54

So I have a good bit of weight on my legs. I’d love to try knee-high boots but I tried on a pair once and they wouldn’t close on my leg. Am I right to avoid and better sticking to my ankle boots?

I have chunky legs, you can get wide fit knee length boots - I love mine, literally live in them in winter.

stonebrambleboy · 28/12/2022 16:05

Biker boots which come up to mid calf are great.

I’m sorry but I am really not a fan of knee high boots so outdated & I think the wider leg ones look even worse (apologies if any offence). Ankle boots suit everyone.

See, I'm the opposite. I'm not a fan of ankle boots ( especially with a dress), and only wear with trousers. No offence taken in the slightest. We are all different. I just happen to suit knee length boots and ankle boots make my legs look fat..🤣

FlossMeg · 28/12/2022 16:36

My leg shape looks fine in knee high boots and absolutely AWFUL in ankle boots. Everyone is different!

Allsnotwell · 28/12/2022 16:37

I love the knee high boots - my legs are slim but some don’t do up at all! Who are these supper skinnies?

NegroniLover · 28/12/2022 16:38

Knee high boots are back! I've been eying up a gorgeous pair in Jigsaw.
Go for it OP try some wider fit ones on & see how you feel?

quirkychick · 28/12/2022 16:39

Duo make knee high boots with different calf widths. They are usually very well made and last years. If you prefer ankle boots, then stick with those.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 28/12/2022 16:40

I have chunky calves and a nice middle ground are calf length boots I wear fly London mes 2 I think which are a wider cut. I like them so much I have two pairs and am contemplating a third. Go well with jeans or tights and dresses imo

They don't do up on me either and I have slim legs too

What I do have are long legs so instead of coming up just under the knee where the muscle ends, they finish on the fattest part of my calf so the zip can't close.

I've never found a pair that are the right shape for longer legs so I don't have any. Those made for wider legs just look baggy and sag downwards.

Hopeless.

Where did you get yours from? I would love a pair of knee high boots, but I can't find any that will do up my fat legs. :(

Simply Be. They do various widths. I’ve had several pairs and I’m a size 22 and have all
fit.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/12/2022 16:55

A neighbour used to use a company that specifically only did wide=calf boots - I've just had a quick google and can't find them - but other companies that cater for this came up.
Sounds like would be best to try on rather than buy online.

MotherOfPuffling · 28/12/2022 16:59

Isn’t Duo the company that does wife legged boots?

Jellycatspyjamas · 28/12/2022 17:04

Duo boots do them but are expensive especially if you’re not sure about them. Simply Be/Yours do much cheaper options which are worth buying to see how they fit and look. The size guide has instructions for measuring to get the right fit.

McSleepy · 28/12/2022 17:05

I second Duo boots. Not cheap but very good quality. You measure your calf to find the right fit so they really do fit. I have bought 3 pairs over the last 10 or so years in different colours/styles and still wear all of them so they do last.

This is worrying, what does marriage do to a woman's legs?

Fairfax & Favor do some lovely tall boots. They’re a bit pricey but they’re nice.

Pretty sure they don’t think they’re old fashioned either.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 28/12/2022 17:13

I second Duo, although for the opposite reason. My feet are size 8 and most boot manufacturers figure that people with size 8 feet have very large calves. So most boots flap around my calves and look dreadful.

This isn't some sort of stealth boast about being skinny, because I'm not. I'm Size 14.

With Duo boots, they make them to your calf width. So they always fit. I've had several pairs, and they are all great.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 28/12/2022 17:42

That’s why I love the Fairfax & Favor boots, they’re available in different calf widths for every size. I’m a wide foot with a sporting calf and they fit nicely and are very flattering. I feel very glamorous in them. And they go up to a size nine.

I don’t work for them I promise.

Bunnycat101 · 28/12/2022 19:03

M&S also used to do a wide fit with a disguised elastic panel. I’ve got super muscly claves and need a wider calf fit. Have also been looking at fairfax and favor for a more spendy pair.

Clarinet1 · 28/12/2022 19:07

I’ve bought ones in Evans in the past which had stretch panels in.
