To think if you're ill, just admit it!

DH has had a cough since last week but been trying to keep it under wraps. Due to the fact we had visitors coming for xmas day one of whom is cev I got him to do a covid test (after having the cough a few days) which was negative but tbh I was still a bit worried. He clearly didn't want to miss out on Christmas socialising which was understandable.

As the days have gone on he's started sneezing all over the shop, and has been getting a temp on and off. We have more visitors today and tomorrow and he's still insisting that he's fine and it's just a bit of dust getting up his nose!

Im not suggesting we cancel everything but I think we should at least let people know who are coming to stay that he's got a cold or whatever (although I've never had a temp with a standard cold tbh). Am I overreacting? I know we never used to get wound up about colds pre covid but the viruses/colds that are doing the rounds seem to be really knocking some people about!

I think that it's polite to pre warm people and they can make their own descisions. The viruses that are going around seem to be lingering I don't think that they stay infectious for the entire time, though.

Of course you should warn them. Dh is ill, because I told friends this they cancelled the Friday night before Christmas Eve.

Ugh, I hate when people do this… It’s polite to warn expected visitors he’s sick… It’s really not nice to expose them to illness without pre warning. Let it be their choice if they want to risk catching his lurgy or not 😷

Please warn your guests, we went to relatives yesterday, one of whom was clearly suffering from a nasty cold and 2 others were nearly as bad. We are seeing them again New Years Eve, so could easily have cancelled yesterday. We spent the day moving seats to avoid being too near. My DH is vulnerable and none of us really want to catch anything.

Please warn your guests.

I'd be really pissed off if I went to someone's house and they were clearly unwell.
