To think it's common decency to tell people you've had a stomach bug BEFORE they come for dinner?

We went to a family members house for dinner yesterday. While we were there, they said they were only just able to eat again that day as they had been throwing up 2 days prior and their DC was the same 2 days before that. I was angry that they hadn't thought to mention it before we came over and we left quite quickly after that.

Now it's Christmas Eve, my 5yo DD has been sick 9 times in the past 2.5hours and if my stomach pain is anything to go by I feel like I'll be following shortly. We were meant to be hosting tomorrow but can't exactly do that now. I lost it at family member because we obviously wouldn't have come if we knew they were sick. I know it wasn't malicious but I can't help being angry that they're feeling all better just in time for Christmas and ours has been ruined.

If they were throwing up 2 days before they would no longer be contagious at that point.

also, you should wash your hands and so should your family members. 5 yo should too but I understand

Bollocks. 48 hours is the bare, bare minimum and that's 48 hours from the end of vomiting and diarrhoea, not just vomiting.
