Really can’t be bovvered to wrap all the DC’s presents

Give me some motivation please!

DC are young teens-young adults. 4 of them and there are around 30 presents. Plus a few for DH who has been working a 12 hour shift until 8pm today so probably won’t be much help.

I intended to do them last night but I didn’t get round to it.

Really pissed off with the lot of them. No help to get the house ready for Christmas, despite numerous requests, had to put the tree up on my own a few weeks ago. No one’s interested at all. DS’s have been in bed all day. DD was in bed until lunch time and then went out. No lights up outside which DH and older DSs were asked to do weeks ago.

Two of them didn’t buy any presents for the family as cbarsed.

WIBU to just dump the lot in front of the tree unwrapped?

Can you stick them in a pillowcase each? Sorry they are leaving it all up to you.

Findyourneutralspace · 24/12/2022 21:41

Get a pillowcase for each of them and shove the presents in there

Findyourneutralspace · 24/12/2022 21:41

Ha! Great minds @reallyworriedjobhunter

Errolwasahero · 24/12/2022 21:41

Nope! Go for it.

ChestnutsOpenFire · 24/12/2022 21:43

I bought a pack of XL fancy Christmas gift bags (that pull in at the top and are tied with ribbon) from QVC.

They look amazing and involve zero effort. Also - they can be reused for years.

cantsing · 24/12/2022 21:43

Buy less next year

Clouds3898 · 24/12/2022 21:43

Why have you got 30 presents for 40 people anyway? Next year one present each - done in no time

Topseyt123 · 24/12/2022 21:44

Your proposed solution would be what I would be tempted to go with. So sit down with a glass of wine and some daft TV now.

When they asked why it has been done like this then tell them straight that you felt burnt out and overwhelmed because of their lack of help despite you regularly asking.

willstarttomorrow · 24/12/2022 21:45

In exactly the same place. Work full time and as usual xmas week is over contracted hours (child protection- always goes shite before xmas). Just me as a widow and was meant to drive for 4 hours to get to family today but just too knackered- going tomorrow instead. At the end of the day it always comes together?

tadpole39 · 24/12/2022 21:47

I did the bag with drawstring thing this year, revolutionary! Never going back to wrapping!! Can use for birthdays too!!

AmyandPhilipfan · 24/12/2022 21:56

We never had our presents wrapped from Santa/parents as kids and teens. Mum's mum didn't wrap them so she carried on that tradition. Everything got put in the stockings or in front if they didn't fit. I have also carried on that tradition and I am so pleased I have!

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 24/12/2022 22:02

We have reusable bag here, revolutionary. Small things can be put into socks.

Kinsters · 24/12/2022 22:07

I'd wrap them this year but make note for next year not to bother.

Choconuttolata · 24/12/2022 22:09

I haven't wrapped anything. Down with flu and currently an emergency plumber is dealing with a leak in the kitchen, so can't even have a cup of tea to help get through it. Too ill for anything stronger, although needed right now. Kids have Hessian sacks, will shove stuff in there. It is all I have the energy for.

Bentley123 · 24/12/2022 22:16

Could you wrap a couple for each person and the rest in a pillow case from ‘Santa’?

Fraine · 24/12/2022 22:19

I wouldn’t wrap them. Tell them this is the more environmentally option if they complain.

Hope they’ve got you presents too.

Furloughedpissedoff · 24/12/2022 22:40

I'm in the same boat, didn't have the opportunity to sneak off and wrap anything.
I have two boys, so I'm going to place each set of presents on a armchair, and wrap the chair.

AmazonianAvatar · 25/12/2022 00:56

Well I did it. I sat there having an internal argument with myself but couldn’t not wrap them! DH helped too so took about 2 hours. Glad I put the effort in now. All under the tree. Not that they deserve it but hey ho! Still got stockings to do then bed. Not too bad time wise.

Definitely will do bags next year (or perhaps have them all wrapped well in advance like an actual organised person).

Well done OP!

“Not too bad time wise.”

It’s 01:00 in the morning!!!!

Florenz · 25/12/2022 01:00

A mobile present wrapping service would make a mint at this time of year.

Amazon used to offer the service but I don't think they do anymore.

Some department stores as well, they might still do but all the department stores in my town have closed down.

toomuchlaundry · 25/12/2022 01:01

I’ve mainly used large gift bags, which if given to people who live here will be reused next year. Easier and better for the environment. Also cut down on the number of presents

CaptainBarbosa · 25/12/2022 01:09

DS is 8, I did not wrap a fully assembled bike! 😂

No part of me could be bothered with that fuss.

I applaud you for your 30+ gift wrapping at the final hour OP 👏🏻

AkoraEdelherb · 25/12/2022 01:10

We only do gift bags now, the only presents that are wrapped are those bought in person in the shops (they will automatically wrap and add ribbons etc here in Spain). Everything that’s online or bough from smaller businesses gets chucked in a gift bag. Less work, less waste. Win win.
