No memory of stepping on anything or any injury. It doesn't hurt at all. No idea how long it's been there - just noticed today! A weird shape. I'm a bit spooked. Any ideas?

Are you 100% sure you haven’t stepped on a pen or something? It doesn’t look like a blood blister.

@DoNotGetADog it doesn't wash off haha, I've tried many times...

I’m a nurse. Keep an eye on it, I’d it’s still there in 3-4 weeks see a GP/HCP and get referred to dermatologist.

As the skin striations pass through it, and it doesn't hurt IMO it doesn't seem sinister.

If it is still around after the hols and you're still worried, book your self in for checkup with a Podiatrist

I have very similar but on the ball of my foot. Got it walking round London wearing boots that I thought were comfy but aren’t! I had a similar one last year after walking. It’s likely a blister that has bled under the skin. The skin on mine died (sorry!) and peeled off.

Hi what did this end up being and how long last

Psm92 · 06/02/2023 15:36

@azzla It literally was just a blood blister - I'd probably stepped on something without realising. Came off after a few weeks!

I had exactly this (also rectangular shaped) on the side of my foot after walking 20k+ steps in Rome in comfy sandals (but with a very thin sole). It was almost like a blood blister, but several layers under the skin. Eventually it peeled off and left a bit of a dent that grew back.
