Do you take time to reflect on your year around this time? I always like to think about the things I have done and the people I've spent time with as I look back on the last year and forward to my expectations for the next.

Travel has been my highlight this year, anything involving getting out of town.

Haven't seen my friends as much as I'd like this year so will try to build that back in next year.

What about you?

Yes always around New Year I reflect. My best bit of 2022 was going on a couple of dates with a guy I used to work with! Super excited for 2023 and more dates.

Also a nice holiday to Florida and New York.

Moonsick · 24/12/2022 07:39

I started a job in a field I had always been a bit scared of. Turned out that I not only love it but I'm good at it. Bonus is I really get on with my coworkers and I look forward to going into work.

Getinajollymood · 24/12/2022 07:41

Got married, moved to a lovely house, got a BFP. So a nice year really although it has had its stresses too!

Climbles · 24/12/2022 07:41

I moved to an area I love. Can’t believe how lucky I am every day.

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2022 07:42

I had an amazing weekend away with the girls for the first time in years. Lots of nice days out with the kids.
I've finally quit the job I hate after 10 years and just need to get through my notice before starting a new one in Feb 😊

devildeepbluesea · 24/12/2022 07:43

Holiday to California/Nevada
Reconnecting with best friend from school and having a few trips away with her.
Wonderful surprise trip to see Harry Potter play for DD birthday.
Warren Gatland returning to coach Wales 🤣

My consultant phoning me after my last MRI, rather than waiting till my appointment in 6 weeks, to tell me I'm NED (no evidence of disease) after a year of Chemo, Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy.

She said my results had made her week, she totally rocks and is a lovely person.

Simonjt · 24/12/2022 07:48

Oh a few, becoming a Dad for the second time, seeing my husband become a fantastic Papa, my son coping so well with being a big brother, celebrating our first wedding anniversary. My son gaining a place on his rugby team and seeing how proud he was of his achievement, winning the Bingham Cup. We’ve had a very good year, we’re really very lucky.

Wallywobbles · 24/12/2022 07:52

After 3 or 4 years when I've finished the year in deficit I actually have some money in my accounts.

Finished retraining, got my dream job on a higher salary.

On Tuesday I had my end of year review - got told I'm getting a pay rise of 5%. So that was a bit of a bonus.

That's fabulous news.

A very Merry Christmas to you.

sunshinealwayscomesback · 24/12/2022 07:58

A special family holiday that exceeded everyone's imaginings, getting a new cat, appreciating times of good health amongst the times of bad health.

rookiemere · 24/12/2022 07:59

Good question.
Mine is < rather embarrassingly> seeing Duran Duran live at the Lytham festival. Apart from the concert, it felt so good that it was even happening after all the Covid nonsense.

stopbeeping · 24/12/2022 08:00

I had my third and final baby and she is amazing and a joy
I'm treasuring the last of the toddler parts with my middle child
My eldest changed school and found his people after being bullied for 2 years
My husband and I worked through our problems and have come out the other side very agreeable and respectful of how much the other puts into our lives
I lost 40kg after having Phoebe which has made me so relieved I have huge body image issues and worried about losing the pregnancy weight
We flew abroad for the first time in 2 years
Saw more of my parents as they live abroad
I made a new best friend

Started retraining, something I haven't had the opportunity to do before now.
Watched my daughter grow into a fiesty, kind, energetic toddler.
Had some wonderful days out with my children.
Made some great new friends and spent time with old ones.
Enjoyed the summer holidays.

Alwaysworryingoversomething · 24/12/2022 08:07

That's great news @catzrulz Flowers

I got married, got a promotion and passed my driving test.

I can't quite believe what a year it's been!

gabsdot45 · 24/12/2022 08:19

I had weight loss surgery last December and have lost 100lbs this year. I am healthy and happy for the first time in years. It's been a really good year for me with so many positive changes.

AclowncalledAlice · 24/12/2022 08:20

The wonderful surprise visit from DSD and her family in the summer. They live overseas but were coming over for a few weeks. Everyone knew about it ( DP had given her my A/L dates so she knew I would be home), apart from me. I hadn't seen any of them face to face since 2018 so lot's of happy tears.

HippyChickMama · 24/12/2022 08:38

These are so lovely to read, it's really putting a smile on my face 😊
Mine are very outing if there's anyone that knows me on here but:
A lovely holiday to Cornwall and some great days out as a family
Ds started year 11 and got some brilliant results in his first set of GCSE mocks, he has SEN and, while he's quite academic, has struggled with anxiety around school and exams, we're so proud of him
Dd, who can be shy around others, joined a lot of extra curricular activities and now has a lovely group of friends
I got a promotion this time last year and have since finished my MSc and been published for the first time
I've just realised this reads like one of those round robins but it's made me count my blessings when life overall is a bit grim for lots of us at the moment. Wineto an even better 2023 for everyone 🤞🏻

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/12/2022 08:56

I've changed jobs and it's been awesome.

ladygindiva · 24/12/2022 09:30

Professionally it's been a good year. The COVID era made my job stressful as I had to teach online ( I'm an instrument teacher)which I didn't like , and change the way exams were studied for and presented, everything was just awful and confusing. This year, everything feels back to as it was, happier kids, seeing old students again, good exam results, music competitions and festivals.... Yes, falling back in love with my job has been this year's high point.

JoyBeorge · 24/12/2022 09:36

Got out of crippling debt. Inadvertently doing that got me investigated for fraud which was terrifying but I hadn't actually done anything wrong and was exonerated. Happy days.

Mammyloveswine · 24/12/2022 09:37

I have found my mojo at work again and fallen back in love with teaching!

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 24/12/2022 10:34

Sadly finding it hard to find some positives as we have had an incredibly tough year. I have realised that I am very lucky to have DH. We went through some horrible years which scarred all of us but came out the other side & he’s been my rock through a series of health problems, some of which are ongoing.
I have played the piano more this year & plan to set up a you tube channel for the pieces I compose. I have a learning difficulty & was told some years ago that I shouldn’t be able to play the piano, drive or type but I have battled to do all three & can do them well. My music is my salvation ( apart from DH) & I have started to write music for friends, which gives me great pleasure.
