Mouth ulcer remedies please

Currently I have two massive mouth ulcers on my bottom lip and back of my throat. They kill and are making me feel totally unwell. I'm fatigued, headachey and have sore swollen glands. I can't even think about drinking alcohol or eating much which is really bugging me at this time of year!

I do get these quite often when I'm run down and usually just ride it out, but I really want to feel better for Christmas. I've been using corsadyl mouthwash for a few days which hasn't helped and also anbesol liquid which offers temporary pain relief but isn't healing them. Usually they hurt like a bitch for a week or so then the pain subsides and they gradually get smaller and go away. I just want to get to that pain subsiding place now! Any tips gratefully received. I plan to do a last minute pharmacy trip tomorrow.

I’ve suffered with ulcers for years too, so huge sympathy. I tried oralmedic recently, and it was amazing, best thing I’ve tried. It’s very painful to apply, it’s supposed to then go numb within seconds, though for me it just felt very sore for a while afterwards (I’d recommend using it before going to bed). I initially thought it hadn’t done much, but when I woke the next morning I couldn’t feel any pain. I could feel the ulcer was there with my tongue, but it was just pain free. You only apply it that once. My ulcers can last weeks sometimes, and this one never hurt again and was gone in a few days (from being a big and incredibly tear-inducingly painful one for a few days before I’d used it).

The reviews are mixed and some people say it damaged their mouth, so I guess proceed with caution! It’s expensive for what it is too- you get two applications in cotton buds. But I’ve got it in stock and will use again next time I get one.

Try Oralmedic. Oh my God it absolutely kills but only for a few seconds, then goes numb. Awesome but dangerous stuff!

I suffered with mouth ulcers for 30 years.
low immune system and glandular fever when I was 14/15.
What I find works for me as I have tried and tested pretty much everything over the years is:
metatone immune boosting tonic - mouth ulcers can be a sign of your body attacking itself when you’re over doing it and can be run down.
antibacterial mouth wash twice a day
bonjela for temporary pain relief when you want to eat drink or get up in the morning (as that’s when they tend to hurt more).

I very rarely get any now.

Fingers crossed and good luck OP 💐

Salt directly onto the ulcer until a red ring appears around it.

Another vote for Corlan (or their equivalent now - I was prescribed them as Corlan but the last lot I had were unbranded). I ordered it in at Boots as an OTC thing. It makes a massive difference.

The minute you feel the first warning tingle start dabbing neat tea tree oil on it. Coat your finger well and douse it, tastes absolutely vile but stops it in its tracks

I used to rinse my mouth with a water with a few drops of tea tree oil and it did seem quite effective at stopping the ulcers recurring, but my dentist told me there was some indication that tea tree oil might be carcinogenic (not enough evidence to prove it either way), so I’ve stopped doing it now.
