My friend and I have had a very lighthearted disagreement.

One of us loves wrapping presents and would wrap presents for anyone.

The other detests wrapping.

Hater reckons people would pay for gifts to be wrapped. Wrapper things they’re daft.

IABU - people would pay for sure
IANBU - no one would pay you twit.

People do pay. Some shopping centres have gift wrapping counters, and most malls in the USA do.

Not sure there’s a huge market for it in the current climate in the UK, though.

I’m the wrapper and I love it - I’d happily wrap presents for people but never for money - it seemed bonkers but my friend was very serious and asked if I’d wrap hers if she paid.

I took no money but happily wrapped the and had a very nice afternoon.

There are some people advertising on facebook in my town that they will wrap presents for you. I dont know how they charge, but will also use your own provided wrapping paper if you want. I thought it was a great way to earn some extra money in the evenings.

BrookieButter · 23/12/2022 19:08

Of course people would and do pay for wrapping services.

I’ve seen many posts pop up on local FB groups offering and asking for such a service.

Puuy · 23/12/2022 19:12

As others have said this is a service that already exists both locally and online you can often pay for parcels to come gift wrapped.

Merryoldgoat · 23/12/2022 19:13

Really?! I’ve not seen any!!

Maybe I’ll undercut everyone next year and do it for a bottle of Prosecco per batch.

Obviously I understand if you order a gift it can save hassle having it wrapped then but I didn’t think it existed outside of American films

Oooh - I pay you to do mine! I hate it and usually spend Xmas Eve in a temper trying to cut paper in a straight line whilst necking G&T and trying to make stuff look vaguely presentable. Used to love buying things like perfume at this time of year from department stores and getting it 'gift wrapped' No young kids these days - only 1 adult DS so at least I'm not up til 1am building up bikes/toy garages with 200 stickers to put on! I'd pay more than a bottle of prosecco as well- you would get a case of 12 from me!

Squisita · 23/12/2022 19:22

That’s crazy. I can wrap a present super quickly. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

It’s like a Monet, beautiful from afar, but ugly up close.

Brainfogmcfogface · 23/12/2022 19:26

If I could afford it I would, I hate it!

Andsoforth · 23/12/2022 19:30

I love wrapping but I have two modes - perfect minor works of art, and battling my way out of a self inflicted sellotape prison. It’s a bit random which mode comes to the fore.

MrsToothyBitch · 23/12/2022 19:36

I like wrapping and would happily earn some cash doing this!

ladygindiva · 23/12/2022 19:38

I'm a wrapper. I love it , but the caveat is I have to be left alone for a few hours with some cans of pink gin and tonic and a tube of pringles, watching a romcom or Christmas film away from, above all, the children and any other people, to do it. Then I'm happy to. My favourite part of Xmas tbh. I did it yesterday afternoon.

Merryoldgoat · 23/12/2022 23:42

Right. Next year I’m going to have a wrapping ‘shop’ and ask for 1 bottle of Prosecco per bag of gifts.

I love wrapping

Zimtsterne · 24/12/2022 01:06

I hate it! Got mine out of the way today so it doesn't ruin another Christmas Eve. A service I would most definitely pay for (if I had the spare cash, which I don't really, but in theory).
