To not particularly enjoy Turkey. Never have it other than Xmas.
To only like the first slice carved?

In our house, we are ABT. Anything But Turkey. This year, we are having a leg of British Lamb, roasted with lots of garlic & rosemary until caramelised on the outside & pink in the middle. 😋

Ooooo can I come round yours?

We are having beef fillet and chunky chips.

Do whatever works for you.

Random but why not...
Beef fillet and dauphinoise potatoes would work for me another day around Xmas.

I quite like turkey breast but DH doesn't so I generally fork out for an organic, corn fed chicken at Xmas. I'd never normally pay fifteen quid for a bloody chicken but the whole thing does get demolished. I always get a good joint of beef for Boxing Day too, again costing more than I would ever consider paying at any other time of year but every scrap will get eaten.

SultanOfSwing · 23/12/2022 00:38

Beef is traditional. Turkey is a Johnny-come-lately new world import. I know which ai prefer.

That’s what we had in Covid 2020

i don’t mind Turkey but I don’t love it. We are having Turkey and beef. Just turkey breast though don’t like the whole bird

BigFatLiar · 23/12/2022 12:34

It's just a dinner, eat whatever you enjoy, turkey, chicken, duck goose, beef, lamb, veggie, curry, mince. It's not set in stone and when you've got little ones it's actually a bit of a nuisance.

Aquarius1234 · 23/12/2022 12:39

So who else also dislikes Brussels sprouts Christmas pudding?
I opt for chocolate fondant instead, while others eat the traditional pudding trifles...
Oh and I don't like mine pies 😐

Food of the gods. One of the reasons I knew DH was right for me, he also loves sprouts and Christmas pudding (most steamed puddings)

thelobsterquadrille · 23/12/2022 12:44

We do roast chicken with all the trimmings.

Chocolate log or trifle for dessert!

GCAcademic · 23/12/2022 12:48

I'm not a fan, and don't cook it now. DH usually insists on (me) cooking a turkey breast on Boxing Day so he can have turkey sandwiches for the rest of the bloody year but they are so expensive this year that he's said not to bother. The single free range turkey breast from Ocado cost more than the 2.5kg leg of Gower salt marsh lamb that we're having on Xmas day.

EileenAdler · 23/12/2022 12:58

Don't eat it then, have something else. It's really not that difficult.

katmarie · 23/12/2022 13:15

We have goose. No sprouts, and no one here likes Xmas pudding or Xmas cake so we don't have those either.

katmarie · 23/12/2022 13:16

Oh, and we have it on boxing day.

GCAcademic · 23/12/2022 14:32

On the two occasions I've bought a goose, it hasn't fit in the oven and I've had to remove the legs. Does anyone else have this problem?

Not that I'm likely to cook it again. The dog went completely doolally at the smell and was wandering around the kitchen all day crying.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/12/2022 14:53

1 Turkey is lovely
2 Turkey is not compulsory
3 It's silly to buy/eat something you don't like

Imthegingerbreadwoman · 23/12/2022 15:47

You need a ton of butter under and over the skin and a bit of water at the bottom of the pan. Cover in foil. 1 hour before finished cooking take the foil off and continue to cook
