I feel a little bit (probably irrationally) pissed off with my exh - aibtotallyu?

I share custody of our children 50/50 with my exh but I have them more this week as I’m having Saturday to Sunday morning as he’s gone away with his wife for the first week of Xmas holidays. That’s fine, we do help each other out on occasion and don’t stick rigidly to the 50/50 order, rather are both quite pragmatic about occasional changes.

The children are ill, both have hacking coughs and flu-y symptoms. Youngest aged six has got really poorly over the last three days and today has been mostly sleeping and on and off crying (very unlike this child). So I told exh via message and he replied “oh well, I’m probably not surprised, wife tested positive for covid last week and we all have been in close contact watching films etc on the sofa”.

I'm a bit pissed off. They KNEW his wife has covid (tests for work still) and did nothing to separate her from the kids - I’d have had them earlier if he’d asked as well! As he knows. But they had “things planned” and “she didn’t feel that bad”

aibu? I know they’re school aged and could have picked it up from anywhere but still. I feel a bit annoyed.

I’d be pissed off at anyone encouraging someone with a highly contagious disease to be in close contact with my kids!

Yeah I'd be annoyed too. It's not specific to covid any nasty bug shouldn't be spread around unnecessarily. If she had D&V I wouldn't want my DC catching it - especially right before Christmas. Not much to be done as he's the parent too but definitely annoying,

I think people are wilfully spreading bugs post lockdown. It's like people have had covid and didn't die so they think it's fine just to fling their bugs around.

Been there so many times with my ex-h.... YANBU. It's just basic courtesy to not spread your germs around Covid or otherwise!

Stompythedinosaur · 22/12/2022 17:50

Very shitty behaviour to deliberately expose your dc like that!

Toblerone45 · 22/12/2022 19:02

Well glad I’m (mostly) not being unreasonable. Mostly just worried about youngest who’s really very poorly for him, usually a pretty healthy kid but really suffering and lethargic 😞
