Premier Inn semi flex waste of time!

So I booked premier inn as usual to spend time with family. Saw the semi flex option and thought that might be a good idea in case I need to move dates or cancel. You do have to contact three days before or you can move the dates.

Wake up yesterday still feeling rough with end of term itus and do a covid test. Strong positive in under a minute. Do another test and again positive. Great Christmas with my family is gone. I phoned Premier Inn to talk about moving the dates. Apparently booking any other week next year will cost double what I have paid for Christmas week this year and I would have to pay it now. I stopped the call and now the app won't let me change dates so that it hundreds of pounds down the drain.

So folks don't book Premier Inn, don't use semi flex as it does nothing and you pay extra for that and don't get ill with Covid the day before you are due to book in. Oh and don't even try to make contact with them because they have staffing issues due to illness!!!!!!

In hindsight over winter, it's best to use the fully flexible option. Everything is doubling next year. My DP faffed about booking our main holiday and now the rates have doubled.

Every booking was twice as expensive? I did the standard booking, needed to change and just re-booked for a few weeks after. I managed to do it all online. (That was in October)

I guess it's the risk one takes if not paying for the fully flexible rate.

Hope you feel better soon.

Your own fault for testing, and then for assuming that Covid means you can't travel. Just go!

We don't actually know who the OP is visiting, I wouldn't knowingly take COVID to my family.

Um I feel like crap. My mum has not had covid and has various health issues so is vulnerable. I don't think I would be that welcome in peoples houses with strong positives and not able to wear a mask because I am bunged up! I would literally spend the time in the hotel waiting on others for food or infecting people at the restaurant.

The lady on the phone said she checked all possible options and the cheapest was a week in Feb which I wouldn't be able to use and £150 more. I don't really know what is true as I can't change the dates myself now online.
